Lets talk about Forklift Training.

MYTH - Once you've passed your forklift training, your qualified for life.

FACT - Not quite.

Although forklift training certificates don’t have a fixed legal expiry date in the UK, that doesn’t mean training should be a one off.

Employers have a legal responsibility to ensure that their operators remain competent and safe within the work place.

The HSE recommends refresher training every 3-5 years for qualified forklift drivers, however this may be required sooner if:

* The driver has been involved in an accident or a near miss
* The workplace environment has changed
* It has been noted that the driver has carried out unsafe practices
* The driver hasn’t used a forklift in some time.

What makes this important is it isn’t just about gaining the certification. Its about ensuring the safe and confident use of the machinery and ensuring that the user and people who work around them are kept safe.

On Friday, we came together at Kirton Holme Golf Club for a very special charity golf day in memory of our dear friend and co-founder of CoLa Training - Richard Laight.

It was a fantastic day filled with golf, friendship and plenty of memories — and it meant so much to see so many people come together to remember Richard and support the cause that means so much to us all.

A huge thank you to everyone who played, donated, sponsored, volunteered and supported the day in any way. Your generosity was incredible, and your ongoing support means more than we can put into words.

Days like Friday remind us just how lucky we are to have such amazing friends, family and supporters around us.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a special one and, most importantly, for helping us keep Richard’s memory alive.

First Aid at Work vs Emergency First Aid at Work — what’s the difference?

Not sure which workplace first aid course you need? Here’s a quick breakdown.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
A 1-day course designed to give employees the essential skills to respond to common workplace emergencies. It covers key lifesaving skills such as CPR, using an AED, dealing with choking, bleeding, shock and other common first-aid situations.

First Aid at Work (FAW)
A more comprehensive 3-day course covering everything in EFAW, along with a wider range of first-aid situations and more in-depth practical training. It’s suitable for workplaces that require a more comprehensive level of first-aid provision.

So, which one do you need?
This depends on factors such as the size and type of your workplace, the hazards involved and your first-aid needs assessment.
