πΉπ Thailand Expedition β Day 14 | Our Final Update πΉπ
Today marked our final full day in Thailand and what an unforgettable journey it has been.
Our students delivered their final English lessons to the children in the local schools before sharing some emotional goodbyes. Before leaving, everyone had the opportunity to sign each other's T-shirts β a wonderful keepsake to remember the friendships and experiences they have shared.
We then travelled into the city ahead of our journey home. During our final meal together, we spent time reflecting on the past two weeks, and it was inspiring to hear just how much this experience has meant to our students.
Some of their favourite memories included:
π Visiting the elephant sanctuary
πΉπ Experiencing the kindness and warmth of the Thai people
π Exploring the beautiful temples
π« Teaching in local schools
π€ Karaoke nights
π Visiting the bustling night markets
π Learning about Thai culture and seeing the country
Many students said the trip exceeded all of their expectations. They spoke about how welcoming the Thai people were, how close they had become as a group, and how much they had grown in confidence. Several even shared that the experience has inspired them to take on more challenges abroad in the future.
Throughout the trip, students overcame personal challenges such as introducing themselves to new people, teaching in unfamiliar classrooms, stepping outside their friendship groups, becoming more independent, and spending time away from their families.
The qualities they developed were remarkable β confidence, patience, creativity, resilience, sociability, independence, communication skills and the ability to adapt and improvise in new situations.
Our students also came away with a new favourite sayingβ¦ "Bless your heart!" β€οΈ
We finished the evening with one last walk around the city before heading back to prepare for our early journey home.
This has been far more than just a school trip. It has been a life-changing experience filled with learning, friendship, cultural understanding and memories that will last a lifetime.
A huge thank you to, our fantastic staff, our host communities, and everyone in Thailand who made our students feel so welcome.
We are incredibly proud of every single student. They have been outstanding ambassadors for Haven High and have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, kindness and courage.
Until next time, Thailandβ¦ thank you for the memories. πΉππ
