Gardener & Outdoor Maintenance Wanted

St Thomas Children’s Centre is looking for a reliable and hardworking person to help with gardening and small outdoor maintenance jobs.

Duties may include:
• Grass cutting and lawn care
• Weeding and pruning
• Hedge trimming
• General tidying of outdoor areas
• Small outdoor maintenance and repair jobs
• Keeping the grounds safe, clean, and welcoming

We’re looking for someone who is dependable, takes pride in their work, and has experience in gardening or general maintenance.

🌞 Heatwave Reminder – Thursday & Friday 🌞

Dear Parents/Carers,

With the hot weather forecast for Thursday and Friday, we kindly ask for your support in helping us keep the children safe and comfortable.

Please ensure your child:
• Arrives wearing sun cream, we will reapply as guidance suggests every 2 hours.
• Brings a sun hat clearly labelled with their name.
• Has a water bottle available throughout the day.
• Brings a spare change of clothes, as we will be enjoying supervised water play activities to help keep cool.

If possible, we would also encourage parents to collect children a little earlier where arrangements allow, as temperatures are expected to remain very high into the afternoon.

We will be taking extra precautions throughout the day, including providing plenty of water, seeking shade, and limiting strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest periods.

All school visit have been cancelled due to the heat wave.

I regret to inform you that we will not be able to open Tuesday 21/04/2026 morning before 10 am due to blocked drains. The tanker we require to resolve this issue will not arrive until 9.15 am.

As a result, we will not be able to offer Breakfast Club.

Pre-school will begin at the later time of 10 am.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Wasn’t that sunshine ☀️ just lovely while it lasted?

We are due rain later today 😞 ☔️ So if you are looking for something fun and indoors to do tomorrow morning, I have such a fun class prepared, with dressing up for everyone to the wonderful story of The Ladybird Who Heard. Come and join us, get cosy - I have a treat up my sleeves 💛 everyone welcome, it doesn’t matter if you haven’t been to a class before, everyone is guaranteed a warm welcome!!!

I hadn’t read the story myself until recently (surprisingly because I’m a big Julia Donaldson fan)

It follows a quiet, thoughtful ladybird who lives on a farm surrounded by lots of noisy animals. While everyone else is busy making a racket, she’s the one who notices something important… two sneaky robbers plotting a plan! 🐄🐖
Even though she’s tiny and doesn’t say much, the ladybird comes up with a very clever way to save the day—with a little help from her farmyard friends. It’s all about teamwork, bravery, and showing that even the smallest voice can make a big difference 🐞✨

It’s such a fun, engaging story with lots of animal sounds, rhythm, and opportunities to join in…perfect for little ones to get involved and really feel part of the adventure.

If you’ve never experienced it before like me, it’s definitely one that brings lots of smiles… and it comes to life beautifully in my classes too 💛 I am SO excited for this one!!!
