What an amazing day of history! Our Year 6s visited the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln last week, where they discovered incredible stories, handled wartime artefacts, and explored the stunning memorial grounds. The children were completely engaged and learned so much about the Second World War. Thank you to the team there for such a warm welcome!

Such lovely feedback from the centre:

"I want to say how enormously impressed our team were by your pupils today. Their behaviour, despite the cold and wet weather, was exemplary. During their visit they used the shop and every single one exhibited beautiful manners and most proceeded to put their change into the donation tins. This was commented on by all our reception team and by several visitors."

Today, the Nursery and Reception children have been very busy creating magical potions. The children came up with some fantastic ideas about what their potions could do, from turning teachers into frogs and changing raindrops into rainbows, to helping people who were feeling unwell get better and turning people into crayons!

This exciting activity supported all areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and is a wonderful example of how children learn through play. Through imaginative exploration, the children developed their communication and language skills, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of the world around them, all while having great fun.

Once again, Reception enjoyed another fun football session with Mr Sargent. The two boys pictured with Mr Sargent won a programme for their excellent listening and super engagement. Well done boys! Mr Sargent, please can you ask someone from the Community Foundation to follow us, thank you.

Today, we were delighted to welcome a representative from Boston United FC to work with some of our youngest learners in Reception.

The children demonstrated fantastic behaviour and excellent listening skills throughout the session, which focused on developing ball skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm—and they are already looking forward to next week’s session!

Today was a very exciting day in EYFS as part of our egg-to-ducklings journey. Mrs Smith carried out egg candling, which involves shining a light under the eggs to check for signs of developing ducklings. Out of the eight eggs we have, all eight are showing signs of life.

The children were able to see the veins through the shells and even spotted the ducklings moving around inside. It was a fascinating experience for everyone.

When we returned to the Reception classroom, the children were eager to find out more and began researching what the ducklings will look like when they hatch.

We didn't just celebrate for one day, we have had a fantastic week celebrating the power of reading at Old Leake Primary Academy. We have had a blast with book swaps, a book fair, reading buddies and much more. On Thursday staff and children were invited to dress up as characters from Little Red Riding Hood which has been our Word Book Week story. Every class had a different version of the story. Thankyou to all our parents and carers for all of your support this week its been fantastic.
