The babies enjoyed creating dabber pictures,they loved creating splashes of colour. The babies showed a variety of grips to hold the dabbers they worked on their fine motor skills, using their fingers to hold the dabber, they also used larger motor skills to swing the dabbers and choosing where to leave their marks.

Last week the toddlers enjoyed exploring 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed the children they created monkey models, role played the song using props and even went on a walk to find monkeys in the wild. The children loved searching for all the monkey outside they took care observing their environment searching for all the different monkeys.

From next week the Baby room will begin exploring Craft Weeks. This will be where for one week the children will focus on a certain craft. We ask if parents can bring in some spare clothes as they may get messy. Please keep an eye on here to see which craft will be next.

This week the children have explored the rhyme Row Row Row your boat. The children created their own role play boat, created fruit boats, decorated boat drawings and went to a river to test paper boats. The children loved creating using arts and crafts making their own designs. They showed confidence exploring role play creating their own stories and ideas of what happened.

Last week the children have been enjoying looking at activities relating to the Wheels on the bus. The children created their own bus sticking tissue paper to create beautiful patterns, they walked to visit a bus stop to try and see a real bus and used buses to create markmaking pictures using the wheels to create tracks. The children showed great care using their fine motor skills to maneuver the mark making tools and practiced the importance of road safety.

Over the last week the children in the toddler room have been exploring Old McDonalds farm. The toddlers have been identifying where things have come from such as wool from a sheep, eggs from a chicken, flour from wheat and milk from cows. They then used these ingredients to make pancakes which they practiced spreading butter onto. The children explored roleplay of a farm filled with different sensory textures. The children also made pig pictures by rolling a ball along a tray with paint in it.

This Friday 27/5/22 we are celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee. We will be holding a garden party and are inviting all the children and staff to dress up in Red, white and blue. The children will be invited to participate in creating decorations and even helping to cook bits ready for the party.

The children have enjoyed a variety of exciting activities this week from exploring the farmers in his den messy tray to squeezing and squelching through blue gloop. They explored different textures and feels identified different colours and sang rhymes that went along with them. The children learned a variety of movements from fine motor skills like moving the animals with their fingers to gross motor skills like digging into he gloop.

Today the children explored creating ice cream. They helped to crush raspberries mixed the milk sugar and vanilla. They shook the mixture to change it into ice cream. The children looked at the mixture in the bag and said “it looked like ham”. The children then tasted what the made and spoke about the flavors.

This week the children of toddlers and babies have enjoyed exploring the rhyme the worm at the bottom of the garden. The children have enjoyed exploring several activities around the rhyme. They have created worm cupcakes, gone on a walk to find worms, created worms out of play dough designed worm pictures and created worm drawings. The children learned lots of physical skills working their different muscles in their fingers by painting and exploring the play dough. They explored the world around the, searching for details in their environment.

The rhyme of the week will continue after half term.

Happy Mother’s Day!

This week the children have enjoyed celebrating Mother’s Day. To celebrate all of our mums we held a Mother’s Day tea party. The children in preschool enjoyed helping to create some wonderful cupcakes to share with the mums who joined us. The children in all the rooms have explored creating Mother’s Day pictures and cards to take home with them.

This week the children in preschool have been working on the letter H. They have come up with 92 words beginning with H. The children enjoyed exploring activities such as building houses using different materials and role playing hospitals.
