For our final instalment of our Saturday catch up… Meet Jack!

Jack has always wanted to fly helicopters, and on Saturday decided to bring that dream to life with a trial lesson in the Cabri G2! After a safety briefing and some photos, Jack was able to help Capt Dhillon with the pre-flight safety checks before it was time to take his seat in the cockpit and head out into the local area to get his taste of pilot life.

It was great to meet you Jack, we hope you enjoyed the experience and maybe this is the start of a new AV-venture!

Next up from our Saturday trial lessons…Celebrating his 30th birthday in style with an Olympic Skyline flight, it’s Thomas and Liberty.

Briefed and ready to go, Thomas sat upfront with Capt Dhillon and Liberty taking a back seat as crew, not only did they catch some amazing views of the Olympic Park and the London Skyline, but Thomas had the opportunity to take the controls of the helicopter and fly!

We hope you both enjoyed your experience AND Happy Birthday 🥳

We had a busy weekend of trial lessons and experiences, so keep an eye out this week’s social as we meet them all… First up a family day out as brothers Hriday and Aayush both had trial lessons in the R44! After going through the safety briefing together, first up to take the pilot’s seat was Hriday, who took his grandparents Devraj and Radha along for the flight as crew. Joined by Capt Dhillon, the three took to the skies and Hriday had the chance to take the controls and fly!

Back on the ground, it was time for a lunch break over at the Aerodrome Cafe before it was Aayush’s turn to take a seat in SIRD next to Capt Dhillon. With parents Jayesh and Avni taking a back seat as crew, they headed out and into the local area where Aayush was able to get a taste of pilot life.

It was lovely to meet you all, we hope you enjoyed the day!

Never too old to fly - Harris & Heli Tour 17/08/2026

As promised… Iris tells us all about her trip to Anjou, France in our new blog post!

“I’d never been in a helicopter… so at 88 years of age, isn’t it the perfect time to try?

When my great-niece, Holly, invited us on a weekend helicopter adventure to the beautiful Anjou region of France, I couldn’t resist. I had absolutely no idea what to expect, but I can honestly say it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

Our adventure began as we lifted off from the farm helipad just south of Jodrell Bank in Cheshire (get me!). Climbing into the helicopter, I felt a mixture of excitement and curiosity. Before long, we were airborne and heading off on what would become an unforgettable journey.”

Iris’ blog is available to read NOW on our website

One of the many highlights of learning to fly is visiting different airfields, and on Saturday, student Michael and Capt White did just that. As Michael currently is preparing for his QXC, they set off to practice and first stop was Duxford.

Duxford has a lot to offer for aviation enthusiasts of course plus the added bonus of free entry to the museum when you fly in and a fab café too.

Although they didn’t have time to enjoy the museum there was plenty of aircraft around the airfield to enjoy.
