🌒We’re ready for the eclipse! 🌒

You might not be able to open your social media for fear of ‘anyone got any eclipse glasses?’ posts 👓, and meanwhile the more ~mature~ of us are digging out the old Jaffa cake advert as an educational tool, but fear not! Our children are totally eclipsed with the activities we have in store! 🌙

Toddlers have really gone to infinity and beyond 🚀 with their moon making activity today for the Eclipse.

This morning we have had some amazing open discussions about the Eclipse, what it means, and invite open ended questions about space, what we can see and the world around us.

Toddlers have then extended their activity by adding textured play-dough to add to the effect and then to further extend this, moon biscuits with a delicious filling will be made this afternoon by the children 😋 who knew a lunar event could be so tasty!

🍽️ While todays lunch is getting ready to be served, a look back at yesterdays delicious offering! Leek and potato pie 🥧 with peas, carrots, braised red cabbage with onion and apple with a tomato salsa! 😋 We often have to pinch ourselves- are we in a 5* restaurant with the Michellin guys secretly lurking, or are we in nursery! 🙉 A big thank you to our very famous kitchen team for keeping us nourished, healthy and full of beans for lots of activity!

🎉 Class of 2026!!! 🎉

A beautiful celebration of our Pre-schoolers who are ready and waiting for their next big adventure at Big School. 📚

After months of targeted transition to school play, discussions and routine, last week rounded off the celebration of their time at Forest House.

Our 👸🏼 ‘Theme Queens’ 👸🏻 did not disappoint, and this stunning set up was filled with personal little additions from all our leavers. From photos 📸 of their journey and friendships through nursery👩🏾‍🤝‍👩🏼; the cutest little handprints 🙋🏻‍♀️that made up our graduation backdrop or the tear jerking handmade goodie bags and keepsakes 💖 And on top of that, we were absolutely spoilt with a gorgeous buffet from our wonderful chef Alun! 🍽️

Whilst we hope that the last four years has left an impression on them, with new skills learnt and first friends made, we know only too well what a lasting impression your child has left on us all here at nursery. From the first showround all those years ago, to each milestone, each new room and each new key person met along the way- Graduation truly is an emotional moment for parents and the entire team here and we never forget what an absolute honour and privilege it is to be entrusted with the care of your child ✨

So we hope you enjoyed a final celebration of the unbelievable journey that your child has had at Forest House and all the growth and development that they have achieved over the last few years.

As always, a huge thanks and applause to our wonderful team for putting on such an incredible event 🏆

We wish our Class of 2026 all the happiness and success as they venture on to their next journey- and we thank you for the laughs, the love, the crazy stories, the first moments, the beautiful creations and everything in between.

Tissue bins are overflowing, but so are our hearts. 💗 Come back and see us in your school uniforms!

Happy Monday! A look back at last weeks stunning rainbow inspired 🌈 ploughman’s platter! 🌈 with homemade bread rolls 🥯 We all know children eat with their eyes and this was a feast for the eyes! A thank you as always to our wonderful kitchen team for creating such healthy, inviting and nutritious meals 😋 and with that… our noses can smell today’s lunch incoming! 🥘

Ok, we’ve been quiet for a while, but we’ve been buzzing to catch you up on nursery life!

🐝 We were super lucky to welcome in one of our parents last week who is a bee keeper! 🍯

The children loved looking at the bee hive, seeing it be taken apart and understanding all the incredible things that bees do for our environment. Please note no actual bees on site, we’re not insane 🙉

A wonderful opportunity for our children to understand this very special and interesting job and we are so grateful to the parent who shared their time (and hugely interesting job) with our children.

Mostly, if you know us by now, you know our team simply can not resist an opportunity for dress up, so guesses please as to which member of our team is hiding in this bee suit! 🤭

🧊 Cold thoughts only! 🧊

Attempting to keep cool during this inferno weather- we’ve had paddling pools out each morning before the weather gets too hot, as well as enjoying some icy play with our animals 🐖 🐧 . Helping them to escape from their frozen blocks and talking about how quickly we might think it will melt! In encouraging lots of fluids on board, the children are discussing the hot weather; what it does to our bodies and how we can combat that. Always an opportunity to introduce the 7 areas of learning 🌟

And also an opportunity for a little ice pop treat 🍦

🌊 With the change in weather ( 🌧️) todays theme in Babies is quite appropriate!

Today we are going under the sea and sending good vibes for sunny beach weather to return! ☀️

Lots of sensory items and an engaging tuff tray to accompany one of our favourite stories ‘The Snail and The Whale’ 🐳 📖

🩹 🏥 The Nurse will see you now! 🏥🩹

🫶Celebrating World Nurses Day and the incredible contribution that nursing staff make across the UK! 🫶

It’s never too early to learn about ‘people who help us’ and so today our babies are exploring the theme through ‘Miss Polly had a Dolly’- doing the actions, learning the Makaton signs for ‘nurse’ and helping bring our dolls back to full health!

Pre-ps have been looking after all their toys with lots of medical supplies- learning what they are for, why some of our friends may have medication or special equipment at nursery and talking about how nurses help us!

To any of our parents who are nurses, a big thank you for all that you do! 🩹✨

🏆 Eco Schools Award! 🏆 We are over the moon to announce that we have been awarded the Eco Schools Green Flag award (with Distinction! 💁🏼‍♀️) 🌟

What does this mean? 🌱 Well, it demonstrates our nursery’s strong commitment to being a sustainable provider; one who factors in green practice, sustainability and a love for the natural world into all areas of the business.

Whether it’s sourcing our equipment from sustainable providers, electing a 💚Green Queen 💚 teaching our children to reuse and recycle, going paperless, doing a ‘walk to nursery day’ or reducing the use of environmentally harmful glitter in our activities, we’ve made efforts across the entire business to ensure that we’re using our kindest hands on the earth and instilling lifelong good habits in our children!

A huge well done to the team for their incredible efforts- and we look forward to hanging our shiny new plaque with pride! 💚🌱🏆

🌟 Striving towards our Exceptional! 🌟 Our mantra has always been to shoot for the stars when it comes to the high quality childcare we provide, and big dreams require innovative training!

At last weeks staff meeting our focus was on Continuous Provision and how all activities can be adapted and made challenging and engaging for all age groups and abilities. 💭 The teams were given a festival/ event upcoming this year and were tasked with creating an activity for their room whilst also explaining how they would adapt to meet the needs of children with SEN, age, and learning preferences.

We think the team knocked it out of the park with these imaginative, inviting and engaging activities! ✨ Each one had such a clear intent and was devised through pure team work.

Rest assured your little ones are being provided with a stimulating and challenging curriculum to develop them to the best of their ability and support their transition to school. Well done team! 🏆
