The Green Room Kingsley

The Green Room Kingsley Pupils are given the opportunity to rise above the negative experiences they’ve endured. We instil a willingness to learn and an opportunity to change.

An independant school based in Kingsley, Hampshire () & Windsor, Berkshire () providing education for children who can no longer access mainstream school. The Green Room is an Independent School, based in Windsor Berkshire () and Kingsley Hampshire () providing an alternative for young people who can no lon

ger access mainstream education. Using a combination of therapeutic, academic, creative and physical education we aim to significantly change the lives of our pupils and their families, to start a path to a better life. The Green Room caters for the following:
• School Refusers
• Pupils with Statements/EHCP plans
• Pupils in fear of exclusion

The Green Room delivers an academic, therapeutic and creative curriculum. We reignite a passion for learning, raise attendance and academic levels, and where possible we try and return them to mainstream education. But most importantly we build in them a confidence to go on and lead brilliant lives and be brilliant people. Whatever the pupils’ previous experience of school, we aim to re-wire the negative aspects and focus on the path ahead. School may have started going wrong a long time ago, so we try to re-discover what makes us want to know more, get better at something and thrive. School is about much more than just lessons, so the first fundamental need is to create a place of safety. Fear is the root cause of most of the troubles that can happen in schools, so we celebrate bravery and kindness. The classes are small and there is lots of support if needed. Pupils are challenged appropriately, aware of their progress and gain the confidence to succeed in the classroom and out of it. The Green Room was founded in October 2011. The aim was to help pupils who through no fault of their own, couldn't survive in mainstream schools. The Green Room began as a part time project with three pupils, helping them to re-engage with education. It is now an Ofsted registered Independent School, situated in two premises, Windsor and Kingsley.

Wowie!! What a warm one that was!! 🔥

We hope you all found ways to keep cool throughout the recent heat wave! 🧊

It was important to keep all of our animals as cool and as comfortable as possible throughout the three days of red warnings too.

What we did to help:
• Sponging / hosing down the ponies every hour or so, keeping them out of direct sunlight in their stables and plating their hair.
• Giving the ferrets frozen bottles wrapped in towels /sheets to rest up against and sleep, misting water over them every so often, laying down damp towels for them to walk over and providing shade around their enclosure.
• Placing a sprinkler system in Chicken Village for the chickens and ducks to enjoy and utilising the new duck run so the ducks can sleep in the cool and stay safe (thank you to Stephen and all student helpers for you craftsmanship).
• Sending the rabbits off to a cooler temporary home to be looked after (thank you to Brianna and her mum for all your help!)
• Fly spraying the field animals and keeping their water topped up and fresh.

A hot but worthwhile time!

Thank you to all of those who helped along the way.

A day at Surrey Police HQ, Dog Handling Centre!! 👮🏻‍♂️🐕👮🏼‍♀️

We were invited by our friend Nigel (owner of Ember the trainee police dog that we have been following the journey of since she was a puppy) to visit her 5 new ADORABLE puppies!

After our time cuddling and playing with the pups, we were surprised by a visit to watch a training session with two trainee police dogs and their handlers. The skills were seriously impressive!

A huge thank you to Nigel, Ember and the welcoming team at Surrey Police. A brilliant day all round. The students curiosity really shone through.

Careers Day 2026 👨🏽‍🚀🧑🏼‍🌾👷🏽👨🏼‍🍳

The workplace became our classroom last Friday when we took on a variety of jobs, from working in a cafe to a travel agents, TV auditions to carpentry, a nursery to a car wash.

The day ended with a trip to the pop-up GRK shop to spend well-earned ROCCIT notes.
