An independant school based in Kingsley, Hampshire () & Windsor, Berkshire () providing education for children who can no longer access mainstream school. The Green Room is an Independent School, based in Windsor Berkshire () and Kingsley Hampshire () providing an alternative for young people who can no lon
ger access mainstream education. Using a combination of therapeutic, academic, creative and physical education we aim to significantly change the lives of our pupils and their families, to start a path to a better life. The Green Room caters for the following:
• School Refusers
• Pupils with Statements/EHCP plans
• Pupils in fear of exclusion
The Green Room delivers an academic, therapeutic and creative curriculum. We reignite a passion for learning, raise attendance and academic levels, and where possible we try and return them to mainstream education. But most importantly we build in them a confidence to go on and lead brilliant lives and be brilliant people. Whatever the pupils’ previous experience of school, we aim to re-wire the negative aspects and focus on the path ahead. School may have started going wrong a long time ago, so we try to re-discover what makes us want to know more, get better at something and thrive. School is about much more than just lessons, so the first fundamental need is to create a place of safety. Fear is the root cause of most of the troubles that can happen in schools, so we celebrate bravery and kindness. The classes are small and there is lots of support if needed. Pupils are challenged appropriately, aware of their progress and gain the confidence to succeed in the classroom and out of it. The Green Room was founded in October 2011. The aim was to help pupils who through no fault of their own, couldn't survive in mainstream schools. The Green Room began as a part time project with three pupils, helping them to re-engage with education. It is now an Ofsted registered Independent School, situated in two premises, Windsor and Kingsley.
