September will soon be here and we will be starting new children at Turton Swimming Club.
Club is on a Tuesday Evening only, lessons start at 6.30pm, 7pm and 7.30pm depending on ability. Minimum age 4. We charge £4.50 per lesson.
We are run entirely by volunteers and have been established over 50 years.
We have qualified swimming teachers in and out of the pool and the club as been established over 50 years.

I am taking names on the list now. Don't delay, I wouldn't like to disappoint we only have a limited number of spaces.

Well that's another year over. That makes 59 years of the club running succesfully, 52 years at Turton Pool. Think we need to celebrate in a big way next year
But for now we need to congratulate our swimmers of the year 2026 and our winner of The Ron Hart sheild
Ron Hart was the founder member of the club and we present the trophy in his honour. This year was extra special as the winning child was following in her mum's footsteps as she also won the sheild when she was a learner swimmer at the club...

With the holiday season fast approaching I always worry about the children and being near pools and water.

So far this year in the Canary islands alone there have been more reports of fatalities than any other year. These have all happened in pools with a lifeguard present, so never rely on just the lifeguard. Sometimes inflatables can really block their line of vision or hide a child under the water. At the end of the day it boils down to parental responsibility to make sure your children are safe. I hear many of you saying that your children can swim without aids when they are with family, The query why we still put aids on. It's brilliant that the children are 'swimming', However we use aids until we feel the child is fully competent without. Here are just a few rules to follow 1. Never leave young children unattended around a swimming pool, even briefly.
2. Stay within arm’s reach of children who cannot swim confidently.
3. Avoid distractions such as mobile phones while supervising children.
4. Ensure children use appropriate flotation aids where necessary, remembering these are not a substitute for supervision.
5. Learn basic CPR and know how to contact emergency services by dialling 112.

It's that time of year again when we all start to think about the summer holidays.
Going to the sea side or swimming in the pool, even getting the paddling pool out will come in our thoughts.

Happy New year everyone.
We have just completed another busy year at swimming club
We have some new volunteers and some freshly qualified teachers working along side our experienced teachers and volunteers
I wish to apologise to anyone who has been on our waiting list for sometime
I never expected the volume of children wanting to join
We have been working very hard to accommodate as many children as possible
We also need to keep everyone safe and we never rush any of the children, plus we accept that each child is an individual and will learn at their own pace.
We offer one to one instruction to all the children if or when needed.
I also wish to point out that our club which was established over 50 years ago, only runs on a Tuesday Evening at Turton Leisure centre.
Our lessons start at 6.30 pm
We do three 30 min lessons in the night
The first two sessions are for non swimmers up to stage 2/3 the third session which starts at 7.30 is for the more advanced swimmers
All lessons/sessions are £4.50 per week per child
I am currently inviting people from our waiting list to join
