🚒👮‍♀️👩‍⚕️✨ Our First Week of People Who Help Us!✨👩‍⚕️👮‍♀️🚒

What a busy and exciting first week of our new People Who Help Us topic! We’ve been getting stuck into lots of dressing up and role play as we begin learning about the people who help us everyday. 🚒✨

🌼 Daisies
Daisies have loved getting into the spirit of our new topic with lots of dressing up, a sensory story and exciting activities. We’ve been busy exploring different people who help us and having lots of fun along the way! 👩‍⚕️👮‍♀️💛

🌸 Wildflowers
Wildflowers have been busy looking after lots of poorly teddies and dolls! We’ve been checking temperatures, putting on plasters and practising caring for others. We even made our very own huge fire engine, painted it red and then all drove off together to the fires in our classroom! 🚒 We put the fires out with our hoses and even climbed the ladder to help! 🔥🧯👩‍🚒

🌿 The Meadow
The Meadow have been busy taking turns using our interactive board to count out cupcakes, pouring and emptying water using milk bottles and funnels, and dressing up as police officers, firefighters and doctors. We’ve also enjoyed junk modelling, playing with our fire engines and colour sorting emergency vehicles. 🚓🚒🚑

🏠💛✨ Our Final Week of All About Me!✨💛🏠

This week we’ve been thinking about our homes, families and the things that are important to us. 💛

🌸 Wildflowers
Wildflowers have been exploring families and homes through lots of lovely role play. We’ve been bathing babies, making cups of tea, playing shops, dancing, building houses and creating pictures using shapes. 🏠💕

🌿 The Meadow
The Meadow have been busy following instructions using our new sensory circuit outside and developing our physical skills. We’ve also been using big and small brushes with water outdoors, making chickens from our Think Equal book ‘Amazing Daisy’ using feathers, drawing our families on large pieces of paper and making houses outside. 🐔🏠

🌼 Daisies
Daisies have been learning all about our houses, looking at a different room each day. We painted our houses using bricks and paint, used paint rollers to decorate our rooms, baked some yummy cornflake cakes and enjoyed lots of splashing and water play during bath time! 🏠🎨🛁

🌟 Looking Ahead
Next week we start learning all about the people who help us!👮‍♀️👩‍🚒👩‍⚕️ We’ll be finding out about the important people in our community and the jobs they do to help us every day.✨

Today we owe a HUGE thank you to all of our TAs and Early years educators. It’s their National celebration today and we’re lucky to have some of the best. They nurture, teach and support all of our children and make Nursery so much fun. Here’s some of them in action.

🌈💛 Our First Stay and Play of the Year!💛🌈

What a lovely morning and afternoon we had at our first Stay and Play of the year, with a special Colour Monster theme all about Personal, Social and Emotional Development! 🌈

It was wonderful to see such a great turn out from our families, with lots of smiles, laughter and plenty of fun along the way. 😊 We shared lots of simple, low-cost and no-cost ideas that families can easily try at home, alongside some of our favourite books all about feelings and emotions. 📚💛

Our first enrichment promise of the year - to share our learning with others - and what a lovely one it was! ✨🌈

The Orchards Federation are looking for volunteers to join our Governing Body across our schools including The Orchards Nursery School, Cherry Tree Primary School and Green Fold Specialist School.

Although we are not currently seeking parent or staff governors ( as we have a full cohort - thank you so much! 🥰) we are looking for others who also;

❤️ have a passion for making a difference for all children - including those with special educational needs
❤️have business, HR or educational experience - or just bags of enthusiasm!
❤️want to make a difference in the Bolton community
❤️have a few hours available each month to volunteer

No experience is necessary - full training and support would be given.

🌈✨ **Another Fabulous Week of All About Me!** ✨🌈

We’ve had another fabulous week continuing our All About Me topic! 💛 The children have been busy exploring their bodies, feelings and emotions through lots of hands-on play, sensory experiences and time with their friends. It has been lovely to see everyone continuing to settle, build confidence and share lots of smiles!

🌿 The Meadow
The Meadow have been busy exploring all things All About Me! We’ve been making faces with balloons, exploring our body parts, practising jumping and landing on two feet and developing our sharing skills by rolling cars to each other. We’ve also enjoyed drawing with chunky chalks outside and having lots of fun splashing and playing in the water! 💦

🌼 Daisies
This week we have been learning all about The Colour Monster and focusing on our emotions. We explored a different colour each day, enjoying sensory stories and talking about how each colour can make us feel. We finished the week focusing on feeling calm and relaxed and enjoyed a lovely foot spa! 💛🦶✨

🌸 Wildflowers
Wildflowers have been busy practising dressing up and dressing themselves, building those important independence skills. We’ve also been making playdough faces and exploring lots of different ways to make marks.✏️😊

💛 Looking Ahead

Next week sees our first Stay and Play of the year!
We’ll be learning more about our emotions and sharing lots of ideas for supporting emotional development at home. This is the first of our enrichment promises, and we can’t wait to welcome our families in! ✨

🌟 We have some very exciting news! 🌟

We’re absolutely delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for the Educate Awards 2026 in the category of Most Inspirational Nursery! 💛

To be recognised among such a fantastic standard of entries is a fabulous achievement and something we are incredibly proud of.

A huge thank you to our amazing children, families and staff team for being part of our Orchards family and helping to make our nursery such a special place. 🌱💛

We’ll be keeping everything crossed at the awards ceremony in November! 🤞✨

🌈✨ **A Fabulous Week of All About Me!** ✨🌈

What a fabulous week we’ve had, kick-starting our All About Me topic! 💛 Our new children have settled so well, and we honestly can’t believe how many smiles we have already seen! It has been lovely getting to know everyone and watching new friendships begin.

This week we have enjoyed meeting our new friends and learning all about ourselves and our families. We enjoyed a sensory story all about us, made our very own family trees and, of course, shared lots and lots of smiles! 💛

🌿 The Meadow
The Meadow have been busy exploring lots of different activities this week. We have been making playdough, listening to stories, practising our balancing skills and drawing our families. We also used bricks and paint to print our very own houses - lots of creative fun!

🌸 Wildflowers
Wildflowers have been learning all about our body parts and practising putting them back in the right place! We have been exploring all the amazing things our hands can do, creating our own faces and, most importantly, enjoying lots of time playing and making friends.💕

Next week we’ll be continuing our All About Me topic as we learn even more about ourselves, our families and our pets! 🐶🐱 We can’t wait to see what we discover. ✨

🌈✨ Welcome Back!✨🌈

Welcome back to Nursery! We hope everyone had a lovely summer break. 💛 It’s such a cliché, but it really does feel like we’ve never been away! We have missed our children and families so much and it has been wonderful to see everyone back through our doors, ready for another exciting year of learning and fun. 🥰

🌿 The Meadow
The Meadow have had a lovely first week back, getting creative with playdough while using mirrors to look closely at their faces, playing in boxes, drawing their families and making new friends. 🪞🎨

They’ve also been busy caring for their babies in the home corner - lots of washing, nurturing and imaginative play! 🧸💕

🌸 Wildflowers
Wildflowers have loved catching up with their friends, exploring our new outdoor equipment and getting stuck into lots of mark making. ✏️🌳

It has been lovely to see them settling back into Nursery life and enjoying being together again!

💛 Looking Ahead
Next week we will be welcoming lots of new friends to Nursery for the very first time! We can’t wait to meet them and help them settle into their new Nursery adventure. 🥰✨

🎓✨ Nursery Graduation 2026 ✨🎓

What a truly special morning celebrating our wonderful Nursery graduates as they get ready for their next big adventure in Reception! 💛 We are so very proud!

We were so wrapped up in the excitement (and maybe a little chaos) that we completely forgot to take any photos ourselves. Thankfully, some of our lovely parents came to the rescue and shared these absolutely uber cute snapshots from the day! 📸🥰

A huge thank you also goes to Sunning Hill Primary School and Leigh St Peter's CE Primary School for coming to the rescue in our rather disastrous 'missing graduation gowns' situation! 🎓😂 We are so grateful for your support and community spirit. 💛
