Congratulations to Delph Cadet Billy Morris who is the first of our pathway sailors to become a member of the British Sailing Team.

Not bad for someone who only learned to sail 5 years ago in 2021.

Like many of our promising stars, Billy started racing in a club loan boat before progressing through to the ILCA fleet where he has worked tirelessly to achieve his dreams.

He will also be representing the club at this year's world championships in Aarhus, Denmark alongside another Delph Member Ava Harris Scott who will be competing in the ILCA4 class.

Only a handful of British sailors have been selected to represent their country and everyone here is very proud of them both.

Tremendous result from Sunderland this weekend in the SB20 Northern championships for Delph Member Adam Savage who had an eventful weekend.

"Sat was windy and very lumpy! We were leading the Sat race by half the beat also until the final hoist and then ran over the kite but did get escorted back with no rudder by a pod of Dolphins"

With nearly 75 new members in the past 6 months, it's great to be welcoming back our old friends Mr and Mrs Little Ringed Plover just in time for the latest round of our very popular Wednesday night series.

Hopefully they will be producing some more new members soon...

Today we took 4 cadets to Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club for the latest round of the RYA North West Region Junior and Youth travellers series and came away with the top under 19 girl and overall winner, Lilly Brown , the Top under 14 girl and 5th overall, Evie Pickles and competing in his first event away from his home club, William Webster was a very impressive 7th overall and top under 14 boy, with Oliver Sharman finishing in 15th.

Well done to all 4 of our cadets on a great set of results.

Not only do we have very competitive sailing up at Delph Sailing Club, we also have some very competitive off the water action too and today we were delighted to welcome back John from PLC billiards in Nelson to refresh our pool table with new cushions, pocket liners, a new set of balls and a tournament grade cloth.

These refurbishments were made possible thanks to Rightmove who recently filmed a commercial at our club. The rest of their filming fee will be used to support our cadet club with snacks and spot prizes.

What another fabulous weekend at Delph Sailing Club with the RYA North West Region Junior and Youth Travellers on Saturday, won by our very own Harry Wood, the BYO BBQ on Saturday night and our open day this morning, welcoming 80 potential new members for their first taste of sailing.
