🌍 Courage Starts with a Conversation ✉️

This Refugee Week, our students have been building connections beyond borders through a special letter-writing project with our partner school in Uganda.

Together, they are exploring an issue that affects communities across the globe: plastic pollution. Through their letters, students are sharing their experiences, ideas and hopes for a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Refugee Week is a celebration of community, belonging and the power of human connection. This project has encouraged our students to look beyond their own experiences and recognise that, although we may live thousands of miles apart, we share many of the same challenges—and the same responsibility to care for our planet.

From classrooms in Bolton to classrooms in Uganda, young people are discovering how their voices can inspire change, spark conversations and build understanding across cultures.

We are incredibly proud of the thoughtfulness, curiosity and compassion our students have shown, and we can’t wait to receive the replies from our Ugandan partners.

Because even the biggest global challenges can start to be tackled through one simple act: reaching out and connecting with others. 💚

We're looking forward to taking part in Leverhulme Games 2026 next week alongside students from Lostock Primary School and Rivington and Blackrod High School for a day of challenge, creativity and teamwork.

Competing in mixed-school House teams, students will take part in a range of activities designed to develop teamwork, leadership and collaboration.

Our Year 9 Future Sport Studies students had a fantastic day at the Anderton Centre yesterday, taking part in a range of outdoor activities ahead of starting their Sport Studies course in September.

Our Bronze and Silver participants have received certificates recognising an incredible 741 hours of volunteering completed between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026.

We are immensely proud of their dedication, commitment and the positive impact they have made in their communities. The social value of these volunteering hours is estimated at £5,593.

This year, to mark 70 years of DofE, we received a special recognition certificate celebrating the adults who make DofE possible within our organisation. Thank you to everyone who supports and inspires our young people on their DofE journey.
