Harper Green School and Arts College is a co-educational Community School for 11 to 16 year olds. Our inclusive approach ensures that students are known as individuals and activities are planned to closely m
atch their needs and instil enjoyment and success in learning. Inspired teaching, by caring and committed staff, challenges students and captures their interests and imagination. The curriculum is enriched by our specialist work in the performing and visual arts and through a wide range of extra-curricular activities. The commitment of teachers and students, combined with a stimulating environment, ensure that students can achieve to their maximum potential and acquire knowledge, skills and qualifications that will be needed for success in the future. Harper Green has outstanding facilities for a wide range of activities and interests. These include: two music rooms, a recording studio, a theatre, 6 dedicated ICT rooms, 2 dance studio’s, a hairdressing salon, a Learning Resource Centre, equipped with iPads, Kindle eReaders and Apple TV, and five art and design workshops including specialist facilities for ceramics, printmaking and ICT. The sports facilities include indoor and outdoor tennis courts, large sports hall and gymnasium and extensive playing fields including astroturf, soccer and a hockey pitch. The school is committed to the Arts and puts on at least two productions as well as a music and dance show each year. Extra-curricular provision is all encompassing offering pupils a wide range of activities to suit all needs before school, at break, lunch and afterschool. The school provides a quality learning environment for all. The school houses the Alan Ball Sports Hall, as well as the Peter Kay Theatre. In 2006, Peter Kay filmed a music video at Harper Green with the Scottish band Texas. The main aims of the school are:

During yesterday’s visit, Secretary of State for Education Lucy Powell MP spent time in our new Construction Hub, meeting students and finding out more about the vocational opportunities and different pathways available to our young people.
The Construction Hub was officially opened in 2025 by Andy Burnham, during his time as Mayor of Greater Manchester!

A wonderful day celebrating our Class of 2026!
We were delighted to welcome Secretary of State for Education Lucy Powell MP to Harper Green today as our Year 11 students collected their GCSE results.
Lucy spent time meeting our students, hearing about their achievements and finding out about their plans for the future.
We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and wish them all the very best for their next steps.
It wasn't just our Year 11 students we were celebrating today, our future enjoyed their final day of Summer School!
Students got stuck into making their own lunch, creating pasta salads with a range of different ingredients while learning all about nutrition and food groups.
We are so proud of how well our new Year 7 students have settled in this week and we can't wait to welcome you all back in September!
