Kindness Rock Basket 🧺

We're aware that many of our Little Lambs who have started school enjoy walking past and saying hello, or visiting on weekends. To foster connection when we’re not around, we’ve created a kindness rock garden. You’re welcome to take a rock or decorate one to add to our basket. The concept is to swap and share these rocks to spread smiles. You might take a rock on a walk, place it as part of the rock snake across the road, bring it to school, or simply find a lovely spot for it in your front garden. Your participation is welcomed and it doesn’t have to be children who attend little lambs, we welcome all local neighbours. We can’t wait to see all the different rocks that are created 🛘🌈

Being physical and practising resilience!💪🏽

This morning, Laughing Lambs tested their physical abilities through many different activities. Babies started off with developing their gross motor muscles with lots of arm movements.; by standing in the kitchen using utensils to scoop and pour the water with excellent accuracy and control. Babies then began to venture off where they challenged themselves even more. Two babies displayed amazing climbing skills using the ladders or crates to climb onto the chest. Using good balancing skills, babies climbed into the crates and crawled along the planks. To support confidence with walking, babies practised walking with the ball. Before finally having a spin in the giant bowl! What a great fun morning Laughing Lambs have had outside together! ☔

Autumn 🍂

Skipping Lambs have been exploring all things Autumn this week. Using different size sticks they collected form their walks toddlers made marks on the paper with paint. Today outside staff used pumpkin's to enhance children's water play. Using the different size pumpkins to roll down the pipes and transfer into different tubs🎃

Forest School 🍂

Everyone had a great time at forest school this week. School room helped forest bear to feel brave; they showed him how to be brave and search for monster in the forest, everyone worked as a team to count 20! Forest Phil then painted tiger whiskers and stripes on his face, and of course it was only fair that everyone who wanted to be a tiger got tiger whiskers, as children pretended to be tigers they helped show bear how to be brave like a tiger. School room got to create their own ghost using a stone and white fabric, they decorated the fabric and tided this over the stones 👻

Baby Explorers 🌻

This week Laughing Lambs focused on mark making; Mel planned such an inviting set up for baby explorers. Using a range of mark making tools and natural resources such as flowers, babies were able to develop cause and affect by observing the marks they made in water, paint and purple shimmer. Staff focused on the physical skills used to create large and little marks, staff role modelled 'round and round' 'up and down' 'side to side' as they made marks in the materials allowing babies time to observe and copy 🎨🍂

Staff Meeting 📅

Last night, I held a staff meeting centred on the significance of play. It served as a reminder for us to be present with our children and to follow their lead while exploring various play theorists, approaches, and outdoor activities.

🧘🏼‍♀️We began the session with a mindful moment, during which we wrote a positive affirmation for a colleague and set personal goals to be achieved by our next meeting.

🧑‍🧒Together, we examined safeguarding scenarios using the Bolton framework for action thresholds, discussing the levels of need and support required.

🧸To emphasise the importance of play, we played! We engaged in a game where, in teams, staff used string and a pen to write on the paper. This activity was fun and fostered teamwork. Following this, we discussed outdoor play, focusing on risky play and meaningful interactions.

I try to ensure these sessions are purposeful and valuable, as I genuinely appreciate the time staff dedicate to them. Having an hour as a team to reflect, chat, and share laughter significantly boosts team morale. ✨

A huge congratulations to Amy, our Employee of the Month! Having been with us for over a year, she has made a remarkable impact during that time. Amy consistently seeks out new and exciting experiences for our children, demonstrating a deep understanding of their interests and using them to enhance their experiences. She thinks creatively and develops a wonderful range of learning opportunities. Amy is also highly committed to well-being, passionately supporting children, staff, and parents in adopting healthy habits. She organises Fitness Fridays, the Toddler Explorer Group, walking experiences, and the Skipping Lambs weekend challenges, all of which encourage outdoor activities. We truly appreciate Amy and her enthusiasm — thank you for making such a difference. Well done! 🤍

Colour Monster 🎨

Little toddlers in the Skipping Lambs room have been exploring their emotions. Using the Colour Monster, Megan demonstrated a variety of feelings through facial expressions and colours. Toddlers investigated these different colours and practised their fine motor skills by using tweezers to pick up pom poms, sorting them according to the corresponding feelings. Can you find 5 spiders? 🕷️

School room have developed a keen interest in spiders this autumn (and, of course, Spider-Man!), particularly after observing many of them at home and in nursery. To nurture this fascination, the staff created a giant spider's web using various natural autumn resources, hiding spiders within it. Only with tweezers can our children search for and discover these hidden creatures. This engaging activity not only promotes fine motor skills but also enhances mathematical understanding and encourages perseverance 🕸️
