This little superstar makes me so proud every single week! She always works so hard, gives 100% to everything she does and she is learning to embrace a challenge rather than feel defeated by it. The look on her face when she realised how many spellings she’d got right was priceless and it makes this job so rewarding!

One resource, so many learning opportunities!

We used one of my favourite multi-skill resources and it was packed with learning from start to finish! I’ve made so many variations of this resource now as it supports so many different skills all at once. This one covers-

Phase 6 tricky words- reading, spelling and applying them in different ways

Alternative spellings for the ‘ai’ sound- identifying and selecting the correct grapheme

Phonics recall- recognising which spelling pattern belongs in a word before spelling it correctly.

Sentence writing- using the words in context rather than just copying them.

Handwriting practice- repeated writing, rainbow writing, pyramid writing and writing with eyes closed to strengthen letter formation and working memory.

Vocabulary and language development- using positional language such as first, second, third, next, before and after throughout the game.

Maths links- making score predictions, comparing scores, counting spaces, recognising numbers on dice and talking about who is winning by more or fewer points.

The best part is it feels like a game, and children always want to continue until the full grid is complete! Simple but so effective 😊

I’ve just dropped my baby off at primary school for the last time 😭

To say Ollie’s primary school journey hasn’t been easy would be an understatement. The battles we’ve faced over the years have been so tough on us all, and if there’s one thing school has taught me- it’s how to write a stern email 😂

We’ve finally reached the end 😭😭😭

I couldn’t be more proud of my boy, let’s hope secondary school is the fresh start he needs. Love you Olliepop ❤️
