Launched in September 2021, the Greater Manchester Civic University Agreement brings together the region’s five higher education institutions and Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham in a collaborative effort to drive social, economic and environmental change in our city region.

The agreement was signed by the Vice-Chancellors of the University of Greater Manchester, the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford, the Principal of the Royal Northern College of Music, and the Mayor of Greater Manchester, alongside the leaders of all ten local authorities.

Drawing on what people across Greater Manchester told us they valued about their universities, we’ve committed to working side by side with local partners and communities to help build a fairer, greener, more prosperous future.

Despite the heat and humidity, our Marketing, Recruitment & Admissions team rolled up their sleeves this week for a charity car wash in support of Bolton Hospice

A huge thank you and well done to everyone who generously gave their time and energy to help raise money for such an incredible local charity.

Bolton Hospice provides outstanding care and support to people and families across our community, and we're proud to contribute to the amazing work they do. Every donation helps make a real difference, and we're delighted to support such an important cause.

The University of Greater Manchester is set to play a key role in the £16.4m Atom Valley Innovation District (AVID) project, helping to boost advanced manufacturing skills and innovation across the region.

As a delivery partner, the University’s Centre for Advanced Manufacturing has secured £400,000 to develop and deliver industry-ready training and CPD programmes focused on sustainable materials and advanced manufacturing.

Building on a £1m investment received three years ago to launch the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing, the University will use its expertise to help equip the workforce with the skills needed to support future growth, innovation and sustainability in the sector.

The AVID programme will support the growth of materials-focused companies in Rochdale, providing access to technical expertise, business support and advanced manufacturing technologies as part of a wider £50m Greater Manchester innovation investment.
