This week's Wake Up Wednesday guide supports parents and carers with practical, evidence-informed strategies to help children build school-ready language skills.

A group of learners visited The University of Manchester this week where they worked alongside university professors and other students on a range of real-world mini challenges all linked to STEM careers. They put their Teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills to the test in Forensic Science, Robotics and Medical Diagnostics.

Congratulations to our learners who narrowly missed the finals but secured runner-up spots in tough fields:
Sumayya & Wajiha - Lego Robotics
Tianna & Zaahira - Medical Diagnostics

All learners were amazing and represented the school exceptionally well. An amazing effort from the whole team, well done! 👏👏

We had a lovely visit to Lostock Primary School recently with Year 5 pupils to build bridge designs. Pupils learned about different bridge structures and their aesthetics. Miss Gorman really enjoyed the lesson and pupils were so lovely and enthusiastic!

A shout out and a huge thank you to local company Bolton Gazebo Hire who generously loaned us some wonderful popup gazebos to stage our Creative Crafts Day event. This is the third year Eddie and his company have supported the school and have been so accommodating with the collection and return. The gazebos were so easy to install!

In partnership with the Comino Foundation, our learners and visiting students from St Monica’s RC High School, Falinge Park High School, Abraham Moss Community School, The East Manchester Academy and Hathershaw College explored the worlds of photography, wood carving, ceramics, stained glassmaking and textiles, guided by five of Greater Manchester's foremost crafts entrepreneurs. 📸 🪵 🏺 🪟 🧵

These experts not only shared their artistic talents in hands-on, interactive workshops but also provided invaluable guidance on building careers in the crafts industry. A huge thank you to Comino, our experts and everyone involved for making such a special day happen! 🙌
