Today our Preschool children have been ! 🛍️✏️✨

They created a fantastic little high street using familiar environmental print and shop fronts, giving the children lots of opportunities to recognise logos and signs they see in their everyday lives.

The children enjoyed exploring the different ‘shops’, chatting about what they recognised and using the mark-making opportunities throughout their play. 📝

Activities like this help children understand that print is all around us and has meaning, while encouraging early reading and writing skills through play. 💛

🌿 Forest School - Week 3 🌿

It was a very windy Forest School today! 🌬️🍂

During our site sweep, we noticed that some branches had blown down from the trees. We placed our danger signs around the area and talked about how our environment can change, which is why we always check our site carefully before we begin exploring. ⚠️🌳

We then explored the leaf litter, searching for the biggest and smallest leaves we could find and working together to put them in size order. 🍁🍃

🍂🌾 Harvest at Church 🌾🍂

This morning, our Preschool children visited our local church to learn all about Harvest.

We joined in with Wiggle Worship, listened to a Bible story about a farmer spreading seeds, and then decorated our very own planters to take home. 🌱🪴

It was so lovely to see everyone at the church again and to introduce this year’s Preschool children! 🥰

A big thank you to everyone for welcoming us and for such a lovely morning. 💛

👶 Babbling Babies 👀

We played peek-a-boo as part of our Babbling Babies session this morning! Some of our babies reached for the scarf as Kayleigh said “peek-a-boo!”, while others loved having a turn at hiding themselves. 🥰

💃 Mini Minds Matter UK 🎶

Our Baby Bunnies and Tiny Tigers enjoyed a dancing session for today’s Mini Minds! We moved our bodies and danced along to some of our favourite nursery rhymes. 🥰🎵

🌳🍂 Forest School Week 2

This week we recalled our Forest School boundaries during our safety sweep and began to recognise some of the dangers around us. 👀

We collected lots of autumn treasures to take back to nursery for some transient art, before enjoying the hot chocolate and cookies we requested last week! ☕🍪

🚦 Road Safety at Daisy Chains 🚦

Today we welcomed Sue from the Highways Team, who came to talk to the children about how we can keep ourselves safe near roads. 🚗

We talked about the importance of holding a grown-up’s hand when we are near or crossing a road, as well as how wearing bright, visible colours can help us to be seen, just like our lollipop people! 🦺✨

The children really enjoyed learning more about keeping themselves safe.

Some of our Pre-School children enjoyed their first visit to our Forest School site, beginning with a safety sweep before exploring autumn treasures. We investigated colourful leaves, seeds and ‘spinning jennies’ (sycamore seeds), learning how they help trees spread.

We also enjoyed a game of catch and practised our football skills. A fantastic first session of outdoor exploration, learning and fun! 💚🌿
