Each year, Head of Foundation Philip Britton reflects on the life and legacy of Lord Leverhulme to mark his birthday on 19 September.

This year, he explored the homes that shaped Lord Leverhulme’s story — from Wood Street in Bolton to Thornton Manor, Rivington and The Hill near Hampstead Heath — and the themes of aspiration, vision and turning ideas into reality.

As Philip reflected: ‘Never settle, have aspirations and have a vision. What is your hillside that could be a Japanese Garden?’

Earlier this week, Bolton School was delighted to host the filming of Channel 4 News’ segment about the vital work of Royal National Children's SpringBoard Foundation featuring their CEO, Ali Henderson and Bolton School - Old Boys and Old Girls (Official) and CEO of AO, John Roberts.

Bolton School are proud to partner with SpringBoard within our own bursary scheme and believe wholeheartedly in their ambitious plans to scale their work. We are hugely thankful to John for his philanthropic leadership to advance both SpringBoard’s progress and the School’s own ambitions to extend our bursary scheme to support 1 in 5 students here.
