A fun week we've had in Pre-School from welcoming our new friend who started with us to using mathematical language using the blocks to match and count how many blocks we had, making lovely autumn wreaths with leaves the children collected with their families, enjoying some fresh fruit for snack, using our imagination to build towers, a farm and houses with the magnets and blocks, Reading books, taking on the role of adults in the home corner and making shape biscuits. The Pre-School children enjoyed making "hedgehog bread". They helped measure and mix the ingredients, including the bread mixture, oil, and water. They enjoyed kneading the dough and noticed that it changed from a sticky mixture into a soft, smooth dough. The children observed the dough becoming larger as it was left to rise. They talked about how the dough had changed and used their senses to explore its texture, smell and appearance. They then helped shape the dough before it was baked. This activity encouraged the children to develop their fine motor skills, language, sensory awareness, mathematical skills and understanding of change. Autumn wreath-making activity, the children showed enthusiasm and curiosity while exploring the different natural materials from their autumn bag. They selected leaves, twigs, and other autumn resources, carefully choosing where to place each item on their wreath. The children used their fine motor skills to pick up, arrange and attach the materials, demonstrating concentration and perseverance throughout the activity. They talked about the colours and textures they could see and showed an awareness of seasonal changes. Pre-School have also been doing absolutely amazing at following instructions by lining up ready to go outside.

Today, the pre school children enjoyed a fun shape-baking activity. They explored different shapes by using cookie cutters to make biscuits. This activity encouraged children to recognise and name shapes while developing their fine motor skills through rolling, pressing, and cutting the dough. The children were excited to see their shapes take form and enjoyed decorating and tasting their finished biscuits. It was a fun, hands-on learning experience that combined creativity, maths, and baking skills.

Two of our pre-school children worked really well together to build this amazing castle. They both communicated with other to see which piece went where, lots of giggling and having fun. This morning our Toddlers have made their very own Autumn Cupcakes. They all enjoyed mixing the ingredients together and putting them in the cupcakes. We mixed the icing sugar with some yellow food colouring which we will use to decorate when the cupcakes have cooled down. We have also had silly selfie Friday. Pre-School children chose a variety of blocks to build a house. They then carefully placed the blocks on top of one another, experimenting with different sizes and shapes. The children showed concentration and perseverance when the blocks fell, rebuilding the structure and making adjustments. The children used language to describe their creation, saying, “This is my house,” and added blocks to represent walls, a roof, and a door. They demonstrated creativity, problem-solving skills, hand-eye coordination, and an understanding of balance and construction. Super building pre-school 👷‍♀️ 👷‍♂️

This morning our toddlers have enjoyed using the conkers that our friend brought into make lovely paint patterns using different colours. We used our hand eye coordination to pick up and move the tuff tray in various ways. We spoke about the ways we are moving the tray, what shape and colours the conkers are and even tried to make up a song about conkers called “We are rolling the conkers”
