At Bowness Primary we feel that the school should provide the foundation and opportunities for the children in our care to become well rounded and capable individual members of a society which continually evolves and develops. When children leave Bowness we want them to be independent learners and thinkers with a range of skills and talents. We can only do this by striving to provide an environment for learning in which children are able to maximise their potential academically, socially, physically and emotionally. Within this we strive to provide a curriculum which is broad based, exciting and creative. We aim to be a school where children are taught, knowledge, skills and develop positive attitudes to learning and to others. Where children become self-confident learners with a love for learning which will stay with them for life.

Our talented Year 6 children treated us to a wonderful lunchtime piano performance today, filling the room with beautiful music. 🎶❤️

📚✨ National Poetry Day ✨📚

Today, our school celebrated the power of words and creativity through poetry!

A group of our children enjoyed a fantastic visit to The Derby High School, where they took part in an inspiring poetry workshop. Back at school, the rest of our pupils spent the day reading, writing and sharing poems, exploring their imagination and expressing themselves through language.

It has been wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, creativity and confidence shining through in their work today. 🌟

What a fantastic TriKidz event today! 🙌
Everyone threw themselves into the activities, taking on the bike, run and swim-specific resistance band challenges with loads of energy, enthusiasm and determination. 💪

There were plenty of smiles, lots of encouragement and some brilliant effort on show throughout the session. It was great to see so many young athletes enjoying themselves while building confidence and trying something new.

✨ A fantastic start to our maths journey with ReThink Maths in Early Years! ✨

We are loving this practical, engaging and repetitive approach to number, helping children build confidence and develop a deep understanding of early mathematical concepts.

Through hands-on activities, exploration and plenty of opportunities to revisit learning, our children are making connections and strengthening their number sense every day.

☕💚 What a wonderful morning!
A huge well done to our fantastic Year 6 pupils for hosting today’s Macmillan Coffee Morning. They were amazing ambassadors for our school, welcoming guests and helping everything run smoothly.
Thank you to everyone who came along, enjoyed a cuppa and a cake, and donated so generously. Your support will help Macmillan continue its incredible work supporting those affected by cancer.
We are incredibly grateful for the kindness and generosity shown by our school community. 💚

🏑 What a fantastic day at the Prestolee Trust Quicksticks Competition! 🏑

Our Year 6 pupils represented the school brilliantly today, demonstrating outstanding teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. We were incredibly proud of their effort, enthusiasm and positive attitude from start to finish. ⭐
A huge well done to all of the children who took part. You were incredible and a real credit to our school! 👏

🎨✨ Drawing Club is Back! ✨🎨
This week marked the start of our KS1 Drawing Club, and our young artists got straight to work creating wonderful portraits of their friends!
The children carefully observed facial features, expressions and details, demonstrating fantastic focus, creativity and growing artistic skills. It was lovely to see their confidence develop as they explored different drawing techniques and celebrated each other’s unique qualities.
We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and the thoughtful artwork they produced. We can’t wait to see what our talented artists create next!
