🌱 Celebrating a Month of Growth at Bright Futures Nursery

May has been a whirlwind of learning, reflection, and professional pride for our amazing team. Here are just some of the highlights:

- Developing daily routines — Our whole team took part in a brilliant staff‑meeting training session focused on enriching learning opportunities within everyday routines. Small moments really do shape big learning.

- Independent training — Several staff members completed their own self‑selected courses on Noodle Now, showing real dedication to their professional growth.

- Attention Autism — Kim and Albisa successfully completed their Level 1 Attention Autism training, strengthening our toolkit for supporting engagement and communication.

- Sensory circuits — Albisa also took part in sensory circuit training, adding even more expertise to our provision for sensory regulation.

- Curiosity Programme — Hannah completed the Curiosity Programme and has now begun her Level 3 SENCO qualification — a huge step in supporting inclusive practice.

- Driving theory success — And a special shout‑out to Kadie for passing her driving theory test — a personal milestone worth celebrating.

🌟 Why CPD Matters So Much

Continuous Professional Development isn’t just a box to tick — it’s the heartbeat of high‑quality early years practice. Every course completed, every new idea explored, and every skill strengthened directly enriches the experiences we offer our children.

CPD helps us:

- Stay reflective — ensuring we constantly refine and improve what we do.
- Bring fresh ideas — so children benefit from engaging, research‑informed approaches.
- Support individual needs — especially through specialist training like SENCO development, sensory circuits, and communication‑focused programmes.
- Model lifelong learning — showing children that curiosity and growth never stop.

The result? Happier, more engaged children who thrive in an environment shaped by knowledgeable, passionate practitioners.

How children learn through play
Play isn’t “just play” — it’s how children make sense of their world. When children repeat actions like filling and emptying, lining things up, spinning, hiding, or transporting objects, they’re exploring schemas — powerful patterns of learning that help their brains grow.
When we understand schemas, we stop seeing “messy” or “repetitive” play and start seeing development in action. So next time your little one empties the toy box for the third time, know that they’re building problem‑solving skills, and an understanding of their world.
That's why at Bright Futures we offer lots of opportunities to engage in Schemas.
