My name is Julie Irwin I have been a registered childminder for twenty years. My mother worked as a childminder while I was at school and with seven niece's and nephews I grew up in a house filled with children. I loved the happy atmosphere of having a house filled with children who soon became part of the family.
I registered as soon as I left school in 1999 and worked alongside my mother while completing an advanced GNVQ in Health and Social Care at Bury college and attended the Early Years Childhood Studies course at Manchester university. I also worked part time in a local nursery for two years.
When my parents moved to Spain I set up on my own and Junglers was established in 2003.
I have completed all the relevant childminding courses and attend regular training events. I am also trained in first aid and repeat the training every three years. 10 years ago after my first child was born I completed my level three in childcare learning and development at Bolton Community College.
I live with my husband Craig who is a foreman at Clive Christians. We have three sons Harley, Miller & Bobby and a daughter Harper.
I have three members of staff who work for me.....
I met Kay when I started looking after her little boy, Thomas. After three years when her Thomas started school Kay came to work for me. In this time we have become good friends and Kay is godmother to my children. Kay is now registered in her own right as a childminder so shares legal responsibility within the setting and has been here nearly ten years.
Stacie my niece grew up in the business coming everyday after school and helping with little jobs as she got older. On leaving school, Stacie joined the setting and has now been working here for nearly eight years.
Kay and Stacie are also level three qualified.
My good friend Rebecca joined Junglers in April 2019. A mother of two, Rebecca fancied a carer change after recently helping out at a mutual friends nursery. Rebecca is working towards her level three qualification
All members of staff are *first aid and safeguarding trained and have been through the relevant checks and attend regular training courses. *Rebecca is booked on to complete her first aid training in October 2019
At Junglers we work in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage providing opportunities and activities that are age appropriate and meet the individual needs of each child.
We are a practically paperless setting and use an online system called baby's days. On here we build a portfolio with every pre-school child that records their time at junglers outlining their journey through the EYFS and recording their special moments, achievements and the milestones they reach. The system also has a live feed feature which means parents receive regular updates on their child throughout each day including their nappy changes, sleeps, bottle feeds, meals and what they have been up to. Parents can view anything from photo's of their child to legal paperwork such as their contract whenever they wish through the secure system at anytime as well as being able to add their own comments, photo's, videos and observations etc.
We offer full time and part time care. We also have a holiday club for children over 5 years that we offer at a reduced rate when space is available. We take children from 12 weeks and have no upper age limit.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you require any other information or would like to come for a look around.
