✨ Inset Day with The Learning Lady ✨
We were delighted to welcome thelearninglady, Emma Spiers, to our Inset Day on Friday 2nd January. It was a highly interactive and informative training session focused on early phonics and reading development. Emma demonstrated how early reading and communication skills can be nurtured from babies right through to pre-school, using practical, engaging and age-appropriate strategies.
The team thoroughly enjoyed the session and came away with lots of exciting ideas and plans that we are looking forward to embedding into our curriculum to further support your children’s learning and development.
A huge thank you to Emma for such an inspiring session — we all had a fantastic day and feel motivated and confident to put our new learning into practice.

⛳️✨ Golf Stars in the Making! ✨⛳️
Our children have been working so hard on their putting skills during our golf sessions with GolfStarz-Bolton — and what fantastic little golfers they’re becoming! 🏌️♀️🏌️♂️
Golf isn’t just a fun sport to get into — it also helps children build hand-eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills, and even the strength and control they’ll one day use for writing ✍️💪
A huge thank you to James at Golf Stars for another amazing session — we can’t wait for the next one! 🌟

🍂 Nurture Nook Adventures! 🍁
On Friday, our children dived into all things autumn! We mixed up some delicious autumn and pumpkin soup, used our gross motor skills to help the animals escape the ice, and enjoyed the cosy story The Squirrel Who Squabbled 🐿️✨
A big thank you to Evie, from the_nurture_nook1 who has been leading these wonderful sessions. Evie is a Primary School Teacher sharing lots of her fabulous skills— helping us grow, learn, and develop our phonics skills (and so much more)! 🌟

✨Heaton House Nursery @ Harvey Family Hub ✨
It’s been just over a week since the fire at Heaton House, and we can’t quite believe how much we have achieved in such a short time. While it has been incredibly busy, we are so proud of what our team and community have come together to accomplish.
We are pleased to share that our under-twos will now be based temporarily at Harvey’s Children Centre from Monday 8th September.
Today, we completed setting up the nursery environment there, and we are absolutely delighted to be welcoming our little ones on Monday morning. 💛
We would like to extend a thank you to Bolton Council and Start Well Team for all their help, and to everyone at the Harvey Family Hub who have welcomed us into the building. Your kindness, encouragement, and teamwork have made all the difference.
Throughout next week, we will be inviting parents/carers in to see the provision during drop off to see where our under 2’s will be based, and we cannot wait for you to see the space we’ve created for your children. All the homeliness of Heaton House Nursery just with a change of location.
The support from our community has been nothing short of phenomenal. We are so grateful to each and every person who has helped us ensure continuity of care for our children, while also helping us begin the journey of rebuilding our little nursery.
Thank you, from all of us at Heaton House Nursery. 💙

💛~ T H A N K Y O U ~ 💛
We are still coming to terms with what has happened at our little nursery, but this past week has shown us the absolute resilience and strength of our wonderful nursery community.
A huge thank you to St Peter’s Parish who so kindly welcomed us into extra space at our sister setting, The Family Club. Your kindness has allowed us to continue our nursery provision, and our children have loved their time at “the new nursery”. An extra thank you to Amanda and Dave!
To our incredible team: we know how exhausting this week has been, yet you’ve worked tirelessly in the most unusual circumstances to provide the children with fantastic activities and plenty of smiles.
To our senior team, I truly couldn’t have managed without you.
To our parents and wider community, your support has been overwhelming — from kind words to offers of help, it has meant the world. I know just how inconvenient it has been to so many of our families who, unfortunately, have not had their usual sessions at the nursery. We truly appreciate your patience during this challenging week and rest assured, we’re working incredibly hard to get things moving as quickly as possible.
And finally, to the amazing tradespeople who’ve rallied together, at one point filling the nursery with 14 people all working side by side to get us back on our feet — even now, work is happening through the weekend.
A huge thank you for the support! 💛
This week we hope to secure a second site, subject to the relevant approvals, to allow us to provide temporary care for all our families!
It’s been less than a week since the fire, and we’ve already moved so far! Thank you so much for the support.

🦺 ~ NURSERY UPDATE - Can you help? ~ 🦺
As many of you are already aware, on Sunday evening Heaton House Nursery suffered a fire.
The fire started outside at the side of the building and spread upwards, affecting our garden, conservatory, kitchen, and bathrooms. Thanks to the swift response of Greater Manchester Fire Brigade and the police, the damage was thankfully contained, and we are so grateful to them for their incredible efforts.
💡 Can you help us?
We are currently looking for tradespeople who may be able to support us with repairs, including:
🪟 Glazing Companies
🧹 Painters & Decorators
🪵 Fencing Contractors
🦺 Construction (to carry out small repairs to the building)
🌿 Astro Turf Repair
🚨 Fire Alarm Replacement
🔐 Security Companies
🚪 Electrical Security Gate
🗑️ Waste Removal
💡 Electricians
🧽 Smoke Damage Clean Up
🧱 Odd Job Work / Labourers
🛝 Outdoor Play Area Specialists
🔥 Specialist Fire Cleaners
If you or someone you know could help, please comment below on the original post or contact us at:
📧 [email protected]
We want to stress that while many generous trades have already offered their services free of charge (which we are beyond grateful for ❤️), we absolutely do not expect this. Your time and expertise alone are hugely appreciated. We’ve already made progress thanks to those trades who have stepped in so quickly to support us.
Whilst the above list sounds quite considerable, the majority of the work impacts the garden and the conservatory area. The baby room, small toddlers along with both Pre-schools have limited or no damage. We hope that once the damage is assessed we can safely work to partially re-open the building.
We are truly overwhelmed by the kindness of our community and want to say thank you to each and every person who has reached out. While we haven’t been able to respond to everyone individually, please know we see and appreciate every offer of help.
👉 We would be incredibly grateful if anyone reading this could possibly like or share the post to help us reach as many people.
Thank you again for all your support!

‼️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION ‼️
It is with great sadness that we write to inform you that, in the early hours of this morning/last night, a fire broke out at Heaton House Nursery.
Emergency services, including the fire brigade and police, were quickly on the scene and we are currently awaiting a full investigation from the Fire Brigade to understand the extent of the damage and determine the next steps needed to ensure the building is safe.
Thankfully, we can confirm that the building was unoccupied at the time, and most importantly, no one has been hurt.
We are due to meet with both the Police and Fire Brigade, who will provide us with further details regarding the incident and the steps that need to be taken moving forward. We will be doing everything we can to put a plan in place, but please do bear with us as we navigate this situation.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the police and fire brigade for their swift response. We are incredibly grateful for their support and service.
We also would like to extend our thanks to our incredible team. Our senior management and other team members attended the nursery throughout the night and into the early morning to offer their support. I am so grateful for your time and support during this time!
While we anticipate some disruption to normal nursery operations, please be assured that we are doing everything we can to put in place short-term solutions to maintain continuity of care for the children. We fully appreciate how much our families rely on the nursery, and we are committed to supporting you as best we can. We will be working as quickly as possible to communicate our next steps however, we do suggest parents/carers prepare for the nursery to be closed tomorrow whilst we find any alternative solutions.
We sincerely apologise for any disruption this may cause. We are determined to work together and recover as quickly as possible.
We will provide a further update later today for our parents/carers on our nursery app with information about arrangements for tomorrow and the coming days.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

🌿 Pre-School End of Year Celebration 🌿
We had a lovely afternoon at Lostock Golf Club and Hedgehog’s Forest School for our Pre-School End of Year Celebration.
The day began with a ceremony to mark the end of the children's time at Heaton House Nursery, followed by some time outdoors enjoying Forest School activities. It was a chance for families and the team to come together and reflect on the children's time with us and celebrate.
Thank you to all those who helped organise the day and to all the families who joined us — we’re going to miss our pre-school children!
