πŸ₯Ύ EVERY MILE MATTERS! πŸ₯Ύ

Lace up and cheer her on…

Mrs Dickson is tackling Hadrian's Wall β€” all of it β€” to raise money for something very close to our hearts: a Zen Den for the children of St Catherine's!

Rain, shine or a few dodgy blisters along the way, she's putting one foot in front of the other for our pupils, so they'll have a calm, safe space to relax, reflect and recharge.

Every single mile she walks brings us closer to making this happen...and every single pound you donate does too!

πŸ’· Please dig deep and support Mrs Dickson's walk:

Let's get behind her every step of the way!

We are thrilled to share that St. Catherine's has achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year!

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, which recognises schools for their commitment to developing competition, participation and healthy competition β€” both within our school community and beyond, into the wider Bolton area.

Achieving Gold reflects the hard work, energy and enthusiasm of our pupils, staff and families in embracing physical activity and sport throughout the year. A huge well done to everyone involved! πŸ‘βš½πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸΈ

πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸ₯‰ We're officially one of Bolton's best for walking to school! πŸ₯‰πŸšΆβ€β™‚️

We're delighted to have finished 3rd in Bolton in the Living Streets WOW Top 10 Challenge for the Summer Term!

The WOW Walk to School Challenge encourages children to travel actively to school by walking, cycling, scooting or using park and stride wherever possible. It's a fantastic way to improve children's health and wellbeing, reduce congestion around the school gates and help look after our environment.

A huge thank you to all of our children, parents and carers who have supported the challenge throughout the term. Every active journey has helped us achieve this fantastic result.

Why We Love Reading... in our children's own words! πŸ’œ

One of the real joys of this year has been welcoming our volunteer reader, Ian Smith, into school each Thursday and Friday to read with our Year 5 children.

Over the past few months, Ian has listened to stories, encouraged children to tackle tricky words, celebrated their successes and, as he says, learnt just as much from them as they have from him! From dinosaurs to Boeing 747s and fossils, every reading session has been an opportunity to discover something new.

Together with Miss Harrison, Ian asked our readers one simple question:

"Why do you love reading?"

The thoughtful responses from our children have been turned into this wonderful display. Their words remind us that reading isn't just about learning to read. It's about finding calm, sparking imagination, discovering new knowledge and opening doors to endless possibilities.

A huge thank you to Ian for giving his time so generously each week and for inspiring such a love of reading. We are also incredibly grateful to our parents, grandparents and carers who read with children at home. Every story shared, every page turned and every conversation about a book helps to nurture confident, enthusiastic readers.

Take a look at what our children had to say... we think you'll be just as inspired as we were. πŸ’œ

Well done to our Y6 Mock Trial team for a fantastic performance at the finals today! They were amazing with perfect delivery of their roles. Well done to Jack for winning the best team performance trophy! They certainly deserved a McDonalds as reward for all of their hard work over the last few weeks! Thanks so much to the Greater Manchester Magistrates Association for putting on a fantastic competition, we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Year 5 had a great trip walking around Lord Leverhulme's sights in Rivington. We enjoyed going inside of the Pigeon tower and learning more about it. After a long walk we cooled down with ice lollies 🌞

A huge well done to our Year 6 pupils for planning and running the Enterprise Summer Fayre. As part of their enterprise project, they took responsibility for every aspect of the event, from budgeting and marketing to organising stalls and managing money on the day.

The fayre was a fantastic success and it was wonderful to see so many children and families supporting the event. As well as raising money, the project gave Year 6 the opportunity to develop valuable life skills including teamwork, problem solving, communication and leadership.

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the fayre. They raised a huge Β£429.48 and this will be shared between a charity chosen by Year 6, a contribution towards their leavers' celebrations and improvements to our school. We are incredibly proud of everything they achieved.
