Year 3 have been celebrating International Dot Day, a wonderful opportunity to celebrate creativity, courage and collaboration. 😊

After reading The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, Miss Ginda's children were inspired to create their own performance poetry based on the theme of anger and angry feelings. Working collaboratively, the children generated lots of creative ideas, planned their poems and then performed them confidently to the class.

Year 3 produced some fantastic learning, showcasing not only their creative writing skills but also their confidence and performance skills. We are so proud of the creativity, teamwork and courage they demonstrated!

Well done, Year 3! We are super proud of you! 🌟

Our Y2 children have been working in pairs to explore and manipulate objects in our classroom using a range of different materials. They developed their scientific thinking by identifying, classifying and grouping objects according to their properties.

The children then sorted the materials into two groups: those that can be changed and those that cannot.

A fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively, ask questions and explore the school environment! 🌟

Indeed, with the ability to coordinate gameplay and talk tactics with multiple fellow players in real time, it has also become the collaborative platform of choice for many professional e-sports competitors.

It's worth noting Discord requires users to be 13 years old and above.

Discord gives young people a space to chat, play games and join communities based around shared interests.

Year 1 have had lots of fun this week reading Where’s My Teddy?! 🐻📚

The children have enjoyed acting out their favourite parts of the story and they were incredibly confident and enthusiastic as they performed in front of their friends. 🌟

Mrs McMahon and Mrs Fletcher were very proud of how bravely the children performed and how much fun they had bringing the story to life! 🎭👏

Year 2's new science topic is all about Changing Materials, and Mrs Walmsley's children began their journey by exploring some key scientific vocabulary.

The children had 10 turns to use Play-Doh to create an object inspired by their holidays, from sunglasses and buckets to spades and much more! They followed instructions from the board using scientific vocabulary such as pinch, twist, roll, squash and stretch to change the shape of the material.

It was a fun and hands-on way to begin thinking about how materials can be changed and manipulated! 🤓

What a lovely Tuesday morning Year 4 have had, playing the djembe drums! 🥁

Year 4 have been learning lots of new skills, putting their concentration, memory, coordination and confidence to the test. It has been wonderful to see some budding musicians emerging and, even more impressively, to watch children step outside of their comfort zones and bravely volunteer to perform solo on their drums.

Well done, Year 4! You have worked so hard, shown fantastic enthusiasm and made it a lovely Tuesday morning treat for Mrs Levay. 🌟

Today, Year 5 travelled back in time to explore the fascinating story of the Trojan War in their History lesson. The children had lots of fun bringing the story to life through drama, creating freeze frames to represent key moments and using thought tracking to explore the perspectives and emotions of the historical figures involved, from Helen of Troy to the heroic Achilles.

This engaging, active approach helped the children to develop a deeper understanding of this important period in History. They were then able to use what they had learned to write their own newspaper reports, imagining they were there to report on the events as they unfolded! 🤓📰

As a Catholic school community, we give thanks to God for all the blessings we receive and remember Jesus’ call to love and care for others.

This Harvest, we are again supporting Farnworth & Kearsley Foodbank and would be very grateful for donations of food and essential items.

Please bring donations into school by Friday 9th October.
