I can't believe it's a week since the last menopause talk. Thank you to everyone who came. As this talk proved very popular I aim to repeat it in September- if you are interested please indicate below.
I am also going to run a 6 week in depth menopause course which will be a deep dive into the lifestyle changes menopausal women can take to try to reduce their symptoms and improve their health. Again if you are interested and have not already given me your email please let me know below. This will also start in September. I hope everyone has a lovely sunny summer!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the short talk on ‘how to prevent dementia’. Next Tuesday at 7.30pm I will be giving a short talk on Preventing Dementia.
If you, your friends or family have been touched by this horrible disease, you'll know only too well how awful and sad it is.
But there are lifestyle changes that you can put into practice now that have been proven to be successful in reducing your chances of developing dementia and I will be covering these in my talk.

It's Lifestyle Medicine Week this week and so I'm trying my best to bring awareness to this amazing new medical discipline.
Today I'm focusing on SLEEP! We all need it and many of us are no getting enough of it. If that's you - I can help. I recently ran a small group seminar for people who want to improve their sleep and I'll be doing so again in the near future. It's Lifestyle Medicine week this week, and so practitioners like me are celebrating, and trying to bring more awareness to the amazing effects that this form of medicine can have on health. Many chronic diseases can be improved or even reversed by a Lifestyle Medicine prescription. And one of the most powerful drugs in our armoury isn't even a drug at all - it's EXERCISE!! Humans are not designed to be sedentary - we're designed to move, to bear loads, to bend, stretch, reach, carry. This week is international Lifestyle Medicine Week! Although Lifestyle Medicine is a relatively new medical discipline, its effectivness in treating many chronic diseases such as obesity, heart disease etc is already well proven.
As an experienced GP I can tell you that there are LOTS of ways that you can improve your health and without the need to take additional medication.
One of the biggest wins is to think about changing the way you eat. Nutrition has a massive impact on health and some small changes can go a long way.

On Saturday 28th May in the library at The Barlow Institute in Edgworth I will be giving a short talk entitled : Dealing with the Menopause. I will be sharing the strategies I have used in helping many women through this period in my time as a GP and in particular will be focusing on lifestyle based interventions.
