One size doesn’t fit all.
Ryan Fox just proved that you don’t need a textbook golf swing to become an Open Champion.
His swing might look unconventional, but the club arrives in the right place at the right time. That’s what matters. Golf isn’t about looking perfect, it’s about creating the right matchups and delivering the club consistently.
Too many golfers chase positions instead of understanding why those positions work. Your swing doesn’t have to look like someone else’s. It just has to match your body, mobility, and movement patterns.
Stop chasing aesthetics. Start chasing impact.
Matchups over model. Results over style.

Most senior golfers lose distance because the backswing becomes too arm dominant.
In this swing, the main issue was lifting the arms too much in the backswing instead of turning the body. That gets the club steep, throws the swing over the top, and makes it very difficult to create speed efficiently.
The fix wasn’t to swing harder — it was to move better.
✅ More hip turn in the backswing
✅ Allow the trail leg to extend naturally
✅ Rotate the chest more
✅ Let the lead arm work flatter around the body
This helped the club travel on a much shallower plane while creating more width and better sequencing.
The result:
⚡ More clubhead speed
🏌️ More distance
🎯 Better strike consistency
⬇️ Less steepness through impact
When the body turns correctly, the arms don’t need to lift so much — and the club can finally shallow and release properly.
For senior golfers especially, improving rotation is often the fastest way to gain speed without adding strain to the body.

FLATTER LEAD WRIST = SQUARER CLUBFACE
One of the biggest keys to a consistent clubface is your lead wrist position.
👉 When your lead wrist is flatter in the backswing, the clubface stays more square instead of getting overly open.
👉 That flatter position makes it much easier to return the face square at impact—no last-second hand flips needed.
👉 Result? Better contact, tighter dispersion, and more predictable ball flights.
If you’re fighting blocks, wipes, or timing-based releases, check your lead wrist first.
Control the wrist ➝ control the face ➝ control the shot.
Save this, work on it at the range, and your ball-striking will thank you 💪⛳️
