Today, I brought along these small tools to run a pastel art workshop with residents at a care home. Thank you for having me in the Japanese Cherry Blossoms Festival!
Using two sizes of cherry blossom stencils and a simple curved line, combined with basic blending techniques, even those with limited mobility were able to complete their own cherry blossom artwork.
I’m bringing my Japanese Pastel Nagomi Art taster workshop to Bolton for the first time this Sunday. Come and experience it with me!

Just arrived!
I ordered from Amazon Japan on Monday evening, and today my new pastels are here!
The four sets that have been with me for the past three years 😅 now have four new teammates joining the squad!
Can’t wait to give workshop beginners an even more amazing first experience!
All my workshops use Sakura hard pastels from Japan for the most satisfying, enjoyable pastel experience🥰

Today’s Pastel Nagomi Art Experience Workshop at The Met in Bury went smoothly!
From 10:00 straight through to 13:30 non-stop. Once the event started, there wasn’t even a moment to take photos.
I was happy that someone who attended my workshop before came to support today as well! I can really feel that Pastel Nagomi Art is gradually gaining traction in North West England!
I’m really looking forward to having more open-to-the-public workshops like this in the future!

The Met will be celebrating International Women’s Day on 5 March 2026, and I’m so grateful to be one of the workshop hosts for this special day!

On the third day of the Lunar New Year, I back to work!
After teaching three Chinese lessons online, I headed to Sapphire Partnership to run Pastel Nagomi Art workshop for a group of adults with special needs.
Since the theme was Lunar New Year, and keeping the organisation’s perspective in mind, I intentionally incorporated explanations of some Chinese words and traditions. I introduced phrases such as “May you have abundance year after year” (a play on the word “fish”), “Rising higher step by step” (a play on the word “cake”), and the theme of this artwork, “Great Fortune” (a play on the word “tangerine”).
With 15 minutes to set up and 1.5 hours of pastel teaching, the session flowed seamlessly, from explaining the words, to introducing festive foods, to guiding the art-making process. Everything linked together naturally, and we finished right on time. Suddenly, I felt as if I were back in school planning and delivering lessons.
As I count down the days to the expiry of my teaching licence in a certain place, I’m reminded that all the skills I’ve built can be smoothly transferred to something more meaningful and more joyful.

完全是過去「揼」教案的感覺
某地教師牌失效日子將臨
但昔日所得的技能
仍可順利轉移去做有意義和快樂的事

After the busy preparations for the market, part of me was looking forward to a good rest, but the chance to teach locally excites me even more!
Grateful for today’s opportunity to teach Nagomi Pastel at “Meet me at the Met” (a social arts group for ages 50+). I hope more people in Northern England will come to know this healing art and find inner peace through the gentle touch of pastel colours.
