WHS Class of '83 40th yr reunion

Hi All Both Dave and Myself are Overwhelmed at the generosity of Colin Williams, Paula Alaimo-Hargreaves and Laura Malone for helping flatten the lost deposit for the Cricket Club
Dave and Myself are standing the rest of the loss
Just another really annoying element to the lack/loss of interest in the event after the page reached views in the hundreds
We will endeavour to arrange a low key meet up later in the year with no costs to ourselves

Afternoon everyone, hope you're all well. It is with regret that the reunion event planned for 20th May at Westhoughton Cricket Club has had to be cancelled. After a frantic few weeks only 8 people have purchased tickets, 10 with Jane and myself and we thought it best to cancel. We could have rearranged the date at the venue with the only 2 being available in Oct & Nov and also we can't guarantee selling any more tickets for a rescheduled date. Myself and Jane are paying the £100 deposit for the venue between us as it's non refundable. Cost of posters and table games will just go down as a loss and I can take the games to the charity shop. At least we don't have to pay for catering which was becoming due and the DJ. A big thanks to those who have bought a ticket and Jane will be intouch with each one of you to sort out a refund. If any of you had booked hotels then I can only apologise and hope you got a cancellation policy at time of booking and aren't out of pocket. Maybe we will try to arrange something in the coming months that isn't as elaborate and won't cost anyone anything, a wet Tuesday night Wetherspoons perhaps. To say we're disappointed is an understatement and we can't figure out where the initial interest from a year ago has gone. Maybe the so called cost of living crisis has bitten harder than any of us envisaged. Cheers for now-Dave and Jane.

Morning. Received a message from Jane yesterday evening asking if we should postpone the 20th May event as we've only sold 8 tickets. That's 8, 7+1=8. We could do with a good number of you to get your skates on and get a ticket as soon as you can. We'd rather not postpone it but if you don't buy a ticket we simply can't fund it for 8 people, 10 with Jane & myself.
