Ladybridge Community Primary School

Hello and welcome to Ladybridge Primary School. Ladybridge Primary School is a GOOD school for chil

Operating as usual

This afternoon, Year 1 put their winter woollies on and headed out to the nature garden for a thrilling winter scavenger hunt!

โ„๏ธ๐Ÿงค We spotted so many children wearing their woolly hats and gloves even before we left our classroom, showing that they were already prepared for the chilly weather!

๐ŸŒฒ Outside, we came across an array of fascinating sights; from evergreen trees standing tall to bare trees, as well as leaves showcasing a beautiful assortment of colours, berries, and much more!

๐Ÿ Our discussions have revolved around how the autumn season came to an end and how the winter season is now upon us. We have now gained a deep understanding of the differences between these two remarkable seasons!

๐Ÿ‘ Well done, Penguins, for your outstanding performance on the scavenger hunt!

After a busy couple of weeks, reception classes have now finished their Gruffalo character hand puppets. The Wallabies and Wombats have worked super hard making their puppets and we are amazed with how fantastic they look! ๐Ÿคฉ

๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŒณ The magical world of the Gruffalo has come to life in our reception classes! Our talented children have taken on the challenge of creating their very own Gruffalo character hand puppets, and the results are absolutely incredible! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ‰

๐ŸฆŠ๐Ÿญ From the cunning Fox to the mischievous Mouse, each puppet captures the unique spirit of these beloved storybook characters. Our little artists have paid attention to every detail, bringing their creations to life with vibrant colours and creative designs. It's truly a sight to behold! ๐Ÿ˜

๐ŸŒŸ We couldn't be prouder of their hard work and dedication.

: From Canopic Jars to Sculpture Masterpieces! ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ”

๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ It's time for another exciting update from our Year 4 art class. This term, we've been delving into the fascinating world of sculpture, with a special nod to ancient Egypt! ๐Ÿ—ฟโœจ

We kicked off this fabulous journey by sketching intricate designs of canopic jars, exploring the symbolism and significance behind these fascinating artefacts. The creativity bloomed as our students put pencil to paper, bringing these historical vessels to life! ๐Ÿ“โœ๏ธ

But that was just the beginning... We have now embarked on a hands-on adventure, getting our hands dirty in clay! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ™Œ With both pinch and coil techniques, our budding artists have been moulding and shaping their own pottery creations. From small pinch pots to more elaborate coil pots, the excitement is palpable in our art room! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿบ

Next, we're taking our sculpting skills to the next level by crafting lids for our jars. After all the hard work is done, we're going to add a splash of colour and bring our creations to life with vibrant paints. ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒˆ

So stay tuned, art lovers, as we continue our sensational artistic journey through time and explore the beauty that lies within the world of ancient Egypt. What mysteries will our Year 4 students unravel next? Only time will tell! โณ

Year 2 students have been unleashing their creative talents by delving into the world of sculpture. ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ” From castles to clay, they've been molding, shaping, and adding intricate details to their magnificent creations. Let us take you on a journey through their artistic process! ๐ŸŒŸ

โœจ Step 1: Castle Creations
Using their imaginative powers, Year 2 students crafted clay models of enchanting castles. ๐Ÿฐ With their dexterous little hands, they expertly manipulated the clay to form turrets, doors, and battlements. Can you spot the intricate detailing they've added to their sculptures?

โœจ Step 2: The Art of Connection
To bring their castles to life, students skilfully employed the "score and slip" technique โ€“ joining clay parts together by creating textured surfaces and applying a magical adhesive. โœ‹๐Ÿ”—

โœจ Step 3: The Perfect Palette
Not limited by the boundaries of colour, Year 2 artists mixed primary colours to create a captivating grey/beige hue. ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒˆ Experimenting with shades and adding touches of white and black allowed them to achieve the perfect tone for their sculptures.๐Ÿ˜Šโœจ

We couldn't be prouder of our talented Year 2 students and their extraordinary sculpture creations! ๐ŸŽ‰ Join us in celebrating their artistic triumphs by leaving a cheer in the comments below. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ฌ

๐ŸŒŸ Our KS2 children, along with the Eco club, had an incredible time delving into nature at Hedgehogs Woodland Adventures this week! From squelching in the mud to splashing in puddles, the day was filled with laughter and outdoor exploration.

๐ŸŽจ The craft activities, the mud kitchen, and the exhilarating climbing and swinging were a hit with our young adventurers. They even had the chance to meet the cheeky chickens and tally up the eggs they had laid. But the ultimate highlight? Toasting marshmallows and devouring scrumptious s'mores! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿซ Hedgehogs Woodland Adventures

On Friday 2nd February 2024, we are hosting our own 'Aspirations Day', to help promote careers, at Ladybridge Primary School. We want to inspire our children, and let them know that anything is possible, and within their reach. During this day, we are inviting lots of professionals from a wide range of exciting jobs, into school, to speak to our children.
We were wondering if by any chance, anyone is available to come into our school, on Friday (2nd February) morning 9am - 11.15am, to speak to our children?
The morning will be set up like a 'Career's Fair', where we are planning on having about 20 visitors in our school hall. The children will then visit the hall in year groups, and ask questions about the jobs and what they entail. We will also be inviting Bolton News.
Is this something that you'd be able to support us with?
If so, please leave a comment or send a message to the school page
Thank you in advance

Please feel free to share this post!โ˜บ๏ธ

๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Calling all DT enthusiasts! Our Year 6 students are currently immersed in an exciting Design and Technology project. They're putting their skills to the test by creating moving vehicles using the jinx technique. ๐ŸŽ๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

The children are thoroughly enjoying the hands-on experience and relishing the opportunity to utilise a saw in crafting their masterpieces. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธโœจ

After spending weeks meticulously working on their design briefs and carefully considering the materials and components required, they're now on the brink of completing their ingenious vehicles. ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“

Stay tuned for updates on this exhilarating endeavor! ๐ŸŒŸ ๐Ÿš—

๐Ÿพ What an exciting day in Reception B classroom!

Here's what they said...

We had a special visit from Toni and her guide dog, Quilla! They taught us all about Guide Dogs for the Blind and how clever these furry heroes are. Quilla even had a little snooze while Toni spoke, and our Wombats couldn't resist stroking and tickling her ears. Such a well-behaved bunch of listeners! Well done, everyone! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿฆฎ

Year 2 had a special mission from none other than Humpty Dumpty! He needed our help finding a comfy and light material to protect him in case he fell off the wall. Fabric seemed like a good choice, but unfortunately, our eggs didn't quite make it. Should we have used more fabric for extra padding? Or maybe made the wall a bit lower? ๐Ÿค” Let us know your ideas and help us learn from this egg-cellent experiment! ๐Ÿฅšโœจ Grammarsaurus

๐ŸŽ‰ We've Been Visited by a Special Guest! ๐ŸŒŸ

Guess what, everyone? Today, a very special visitor named Sarah from Greenhalgh's came to Year 1 and shared some incredible news with us! She told us all about the fantastic new shop that just opened up in Bolton. We were lucky enough to see vibrant pictures of their awesome teams and even got a peek into the magical factory where their scrumptious treats are made! But wait, there's more... ๐Ÿช

Regi, the amazing product designer, needs our creative minds to come up with a marvellous Christmas biscuit! ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿณ The lucky winner will have their biscuit brought to life and sold in the fancy new local shop. Can you believe it? The children in Year 1 put their hearts into sticking to Sarah's design brief, and we're anxiously awaiting the announcement of the winner. It's nail-bitingly exciting! ๐Ÿ˜„

And as if that wasn't enough, each one of us will be taking home a scrumptious gingerbread Rudolf biscuit to enjoy at home. Not only is it super tasty, but it also has all the ingredients listed on the back. So cool, right? ๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿช Don't forget to share your yummy Rudolf creations with us!

Yummy pizza adventures during DT in Year 3 this week! ๐Ÿ• They had a wonderful afternoon last week when they were taste testing different pizzas, taking notes on what they liked and disliked about each one. It's all part of their master plan to create their very own pizzas. ๐Ÿ• They can't wait to get creative with our toppings! Stay tuned for the delicious results! ๐Ÿ˜‹

In honour of Remembrance Day, our talented Year 6 students put together a heartwarming and moving recitation of the iconic poem 'In Flander's Field' ๐ŸŒบโœจ.

I say this all of the time, there cannot be any other schools in Bolton, with the heart and soul that we have here at Ladybridge. You guys are amazing.' ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ’™

Here's what they said:

Mr Walton helped us light a fire safely and burn our Guy Fawkes dolls to keep with the tradition that King James I wanted. We then enjoyed hot chocolate and a biscuit whilst watching some fireworks.

We also shouted our key words - "Guy Fawkes" "Gunpowder" "King James I" "Past" "Present".

What a brilliant way to end our topic, the children absolutely loved it! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŽ‡๐Ÿ˜€
