Meet Jonathan, one of our English tutors.
"I have been an English teacher since 1987. I've worked in various schools and colleges teaching Literature and Language. Although I am no longer in the classroom I am very involved in GCSE examining and have been for way too long. I have a first in English and a PGCE. Outside of work I also run a business buying and selling comics. I need to sell some more because my house is full. I have three children, two grandchildren and a cat."
We support all students on the education that they deserve but with our way of teaching we let them find ways to solve problems. We understand that everyone learns in different ways and it is important for children to figure out what is best for them and use it in the future to help their success.

Meet Julie, she is one of our Primary tutors.
"Hi, my name is Julie and I have been teaching and tutoring for more years than I care to remember (whisper...it's around 22 years, shhh!!). I am qualified, insured, and DBS-checked. I have a 2:1 degree and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and have done many courses and extra training throughout my teaching career. I love teaching one to one and helping children to realise their full potential. I live in Selsey with my husband, cat, and two teenage children. I've just recently been through GCSEs and A Levels with them so can understand, and empathise with, the stresses and struggles your own children may face. When I’m not working I enjoy reading, Nordic Walking and Pilates and spending time with my family (unless they’re driving me mad and then I like nothing more than escaping them!). I have taught children of all ages and can honestly say I couldn’t wish for a more rewarding job."
In 1954, Life magazine published a report about school children who would not read. The report said main children's books were not interesting. Dr Seuss decided to write books that were interesting and easy to read as he had a strong desire to help children enjoy reading.
We too aim to make learning interesting and enjoyable so they want to continue learning.
🎄 MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄
Wishing all of our students and their families a very merry Christmas!

🌍 Father Christmas: A Global Celebration 🎁
Today, Father Christmas is celebrated in various forms around the world! In other cultures, he may resemble Sinterklaas or even the Christkind. Regardless of the name, the spirit of giving and joy remains the same. How do you celebrate? Share your traditions below!
🎉 The Transformation into Santa Claus 🎉
In the 19th century, Father Christmas began to blend with the American Santa Claus. This was influenced heavily by poems like “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (often called “The Night Before Christmas”) and illustrations by Thomas Nast. By the end of the century, the jolly figure we know today—complete with his red suit and reindeer—was firmly established!
Sophie
Primary Tutor
Meet Sophie, she is one of our Primary tutors.
"Hi, my name is Sophie and I have been teaching and tutoring for a long time (28 years!). I have a degree in Geography and a PGCE in Primary Education. I have lots of experience in teaching children of all ages in Key Stages 1 and 2, and in helping Year 6 children achieve their best in SATs tests.
I live in Bognor with my husband and have two boys, both currently at University. When not working, I enjoy cycling, walking and swimming in the sea (even on Christmas Day!). I am also a keen gardener and have an allotment where I grow fruit and vegetables.
I love helping children improve their confidence in their own abilities, and reach their full potential. "
🧝♂️ From Pagan Traditions to Festive Icon 🎄
Originally, the figure of Father Christmas was linked to pagan midwinter festivities in Europe. He embodied the spirit of winter and the holiday season, celebrating abundance and joy. Over time, he took on a more defined form, becoming a symbol of goodwill and gift-giving during the Christmas season!

"I am a practicing English tutor, GCSE exam marker, life coach, mental health and autism specialist social worker with 19 years teaching experience as a secondary school English Teacher (including as Head of Department).
I hold an MA, PG Diploma and PG Certificate in social work, a PG Certificate in Psychology, a PGCE in English and a BA Hons in English with Management Studies so I know quite a bit about exams... and anxiety about exams.
I love working with neurodivergent people and am equally happy tutoring children and adults, and currently support degree and masters level social work students through mentoring and coworking with a view to taking my practice educator post graduate qualification later this year. I have taught or tutored Drama, English Language, English Literature, Media Studies, Asdan, Functional Skills Entry 1- Level 2 for a range of exam boards and qualifications including BTEC, GCSE and City and Guilds.
I focus on flexible online tuition for those that are more comfortable with online communication than face to face and am particularly skilled in identifying and supporting reasonable adjustments for all levels of attainment. And I am currently writing a book to be published later this year."
🎅✨ The Origins of Father Christmas ✨🎅
Father Christmas has roots dating back to ancient times! In the 4th century, St. Nicholas, a kind and generous bishop known for his gift-giving, became the inspiration for modern-day Santa Claus. Celebrated on December 6th, St. Nicholas’s feast day paved the way for our beloved holiday figure.

"I have a 2:1 degree in KS2/3 Teaching with Mathematics. I taught Maths in a secondary school for 6 years, up to GCSE. My degree allows me to teach primary school maths also. I have tutored quite a few younger pupils too. After having my son, I left secondary teaching to teach GSCE resit Maths in a college I absolutely love my job: getting to work 1:1 with pupils, finding the underlying issues that are blocking their learning, working to build solid foundations, so the main structure doesn't come crashing down in exams. In my spare time, (what's that?!) I like to spend time with my family, read, and I love going out for good food!"
Happy International Men's Day! 🎉

Francesca is one of the Directors of Just Learn, along with SEN Lead, Maths, Science and Computing Tutor!
"I am a keen mathematician and ex-secondary maths teacher with MA Inclusive Special Education, PGCE Secondary Mathematics, BSc Mathematics. My private tuition experience is year 3 to Masters, including SATs, GCSEs and A-Level students. I encourage a growth mindset and teach that mistakes are to be learnt from. This is especially true in Mathematics where there is often only a finite number of errors you can make before you find the right answer."
