Weight training in menopause: the stats are in.
Menopause fitness specialists have been talking for years about the importance of weight/resistance training to keep your body healthy when your hormones decline, but the University of Exeter recently put some meat on the claims.
More than 70 women took part in a study, where one group simply exercised, and the other group completed a resistance training programme.
Compared to the general exercise group, the resistance training group experienced:
19% increase in hip function and lower body strength
21% increase in full-body flexibility
10% increase in dynamic balance, mobility, and stability
First-of-its-kind study shows resistance training can improve physical function during menopause

A very Happy New Year Gently Fitters. Looking forward to seeing you all back at class from Monday 6th January 2025.
At our pre-Christmas Fayre on Wednesday 18th we managed to raise just over £100 which was split between The Cat and Rabbit Rescue and Lavant Ward at St Richards Hospital for Stroke recovery patients. Well done to the clever girls who made cakes and crafts and thank you to all who came along and/or supported the worthy causes.

Class Schedule Spring 2025
Monday 1030-1130 - Pure Pilates
Monday 1800-1900 - Weights & Pilates**
Tuesday 1200-1300 - Pure Pilates
Wesdnesday 1030-1130 - Weights & Pilates
Some dates to note when classes will not be running:-
Easter Monday - 21st April
Early May Bank Holiday Monday - 5th May
12th, 13th & 14th May
Spring Bank Holiday Monday - 26th May
Mondays always take a bit of hit in April and May due to all the bank holidays but apart from the 12th May week, the Tuesday and Wednesday classes will run as normal.

It’s another one of those Bank Holidays coming up. So no classes on this coming Monday 6th May - but Tuesday lunchtime (12-1pm Pure Pilates) and Wednesday morning (10.30-11.30am Weights & Pilates) will run as usual.
Weeks commencing 13th and 20th May - normal class times (see https://gentlyfit.com/class-timetable).
Then Gently Fit will be closed 27th May to 7th June.
Classes will start up again as normal on 10th June.

Just a quick reminder that there will be no classes on Monday 1st April (and that’s not an April Fool!!).
Tuesday 2nd - Pure Pilates and Wednesday 3rd - Weights and Pilates are both running as normal.
