Our netball team should be incredibly proud of themselves for coming third in our area competition, meaning that they have qualified for the Bognor & Chichester finals.

The squad played with great determination, applied their coaching drills on the court and most importantly, showed amazing team work especially with the challenge of changing positions every game. Thoroughly deserved! 💚❤️

On Thursday, we participated in another friendly tournament, at The Regis School. ⚽️

Well done to our boys, who once again represented our school brilliantly. During 13 minute games, on both the smaller ‘cage’ pitches and the larger 1/3 pitches, the boys played as a team and really listened to feedback and tactical advice, with lots of football played on the floor.

We remained undefeated on the night- winning 4 games and drawing 4 games, conceding only one goal in the whole tournament.

Keep it up, boys! 👏

More coats seeking their owners! Do you recognise any of these lovely coats? We’d love to reunite them with their owners. Please come to the office if one of them belongs to your child. These are the last of the coats in lost property at the moment, however we do have lots of unamed black hoodies. We will start posting videos of these next week!

FAB Netball

Last night, six of our netball squad took to The Arena for the first FAB Fixtures of 2024, playing friendlies against various schools in the area.

They showed excellent team work, support for one-another and kept going until the final whistle - even more impressive, given the chilly temperatures! The team displayed wonderful sportsmanship and fair play, whilst developing their netball skills.

Well done everyone 👏🏐

Rose Green Go Marching On!

On Wednesday, our QuickSticks Hockey team qualified for the County Finals for the third year on the bounce.

The team responded brilliantly to some tricky opposition in their opening games, before growing in confidence, playing some great hockey and working admirably as a squad.

With four wins, a draw and a single defeat, our young athletes should be extremely proud of their efforts and they will look forward to competing at East Grinstead Hockey Club in April!

Come on Rose Green! 💚❤️

On Friday, our school came together at St Richard’s Church in Rose Green.

To put us all in the Christmas spirit, some of our Year 6 children reenacted the nativity story, alongside our readers, who told the story brilliantly.
Amongst this, the children filled the church with a variety of Christmas carols.

A wonderful event to end our Autumn term!

Thank you to Mother Lucy for hosting us, thank you to our parent helpers and thank you to Arthur- for playing the organ so well!

Our Year 6 boys played in another tournament, against local schools last Thursday night.

Winning 4, drawing 2 and losing 1, they came approximately 2nd or 3rd in a hotly contested friendly tournament.

We have lots of tournaments coming up, across a wide range of sports in 2024!

🪡 Just a couple of our wonderful drawstring bags which the children in Year 6 have been working so hard on this half term. Which I’m sure you will agree are incredible!

🧵 In art during Autumn 1 the children designed and made a fabric collage motif which they felt represented something important to them. They learnt different hand-stitching techniques and chose which were best to use. Once they had their designs, they learnt how transfer it into pattern pieces which they cut out, pinned to their chosen fabrics and cut around using special fabric scissors. When sewing their pieces on they thought about what stitch to use and what colour thread would suit the design eg the same colour as the fabric or a contrasting colour so the stitching stood out.

🧵 During our ww2 day as part of make do and mend they also learnt how to sew on a button!

🧵 In Autumn 2 in DT children have learnt about the textile industry, what cotton is and how cotton fabric is made, how a designer considers aesthetic and functionally aspects of their designs, how textiles can be joined in different ways and evaluated existing bags. They then used this learning to design their own drawstring bags, considering colours of cords, whether to make a backpack or drawstring bag, where to position the motif they made in art and how to attach it securely whilst being aesthetically pleasing as well as whether they added further embellishments. Throughout, children learnt about the environmental impact of the textile industry, especially ‘fast fashion’, ‘throw-away fashion’ and the use of man-made plastic materials within designs. Therefore, the majority of the bags are made from recycled fabrics which we had donated and the children brought in. The children sewed their drawstring bags using sewing machines which they learnt to use safely and effectively; we know many now have them on their Christmas lists!

🪡 We are so very proud of how hard the children have worked on these and of the advanced skills they have learnt. Also we’d like to say a big thank you to the parents for helping to source the fabric.

Well done Year 6!

What a brilliant couple of weeks we have had holding all of our Christmas events. The Elves Workshop welcomed just over 200 children through their magical doors. Next, was the Christmas Fair where one happy customer described it as, 'the best time of her life'. Amongst all of this, we also had our Lucky Boxes running, where 8 children won our top prizes as well as 16 runners-up who took home a Christmas Gonk.

With all of our events combined, we are able to raise an amazing £3,087!

Thank you so much to our Events Team for organising all these events, to our wonderful staff for all of their help and support, to the upper school children and volunteers who manned a stall at the Fair, to our year 6 elves, to Farndells Estate Agents and Bradley Electrical for sponsoring some of our Lucky Boxes, to the parents who contributed prizes and to the rest of our school community for their support.

Merry Christmas!
