Welcome to all the children and families joining us at Blackbirds Playgroup this term. We spent last week saying hello to new friends, hearing about everyone’s summer holidays, and remembering how much we love playing and sharing together.

Today we’ve spent time in the role-play cafe, painting fruit and veg using stencils, threading beads, looking after the ponies, and sharing books together.
All of these activities are great fun and also valuable learning opportunities.
We are: learning to work and play together, strengthening our grip so we’ll be ready to hold a pencil, showing care for others, learning about the world around us and our place in it.

* lunchbox and water bottle
* coat, hat, wellies, shoes

If you are looking to purchase some labels (stickers / iron on) then have a look at www.mynametags.com and if you enter the School/Nursery Code ❗18180 ❗ then Blackbirds will get a little donation to put towards new resources for the children.

To the Blackbirds families - thank you for all the kind words, cards and gifts, they really do mean a lot to the team. Thank you for sharing your little ones with us and partnering with us to help them grow into amazing people.

To Gemma and Jane who are moving on to work in a new nursery - everyone will miss you! You have offered exceptional care for both the children and their families. You have brought amazing ideas, energy, enthusiasm, knowledge, and experience. Thank you for sharing it all with us and we wish you well in your new roles.

We have painted a pandemonium of parrots 🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜🦜
It started as an idea for one of our school leavers who loves parrots… but it turns out that almost everyone loves parrots and wanted to make one too.

Then together we made up a story about a parrot on an adventure, with the children giving their suggestions for characters and plot line. They have fantastic imaginations 💥🧠💡 (please forgive the handwriting, it’s tricky to write quickly on a whiteboard)

It’s almost the end of term and we are preparing some of our children to start school in September.

They can dress up in school uniform and get used to buttons and zips, think about what makes a healthy packed lunch, share stories about school, play with numbers and letters and recognise their name, practise mark-making, and practise brushing their teeth.
