School Council and the RE Council worked together to design the new Spirituality Garden on the School Field. They would like raised beds with wild flowers, trees, circular benches and some colourful Perspex to create an area suitable for meditation. Aarna, Dante, Maisie, Benjamin, Lucy and Zofia presented their ideas to the FSA who will decide which parts to fund. We are hoping the Spirituality Garden will be ready in time for summer this year!
If you are able to make any donations to our after school Cake Sale, please could you bring them to the school office by 12pm today.
Many thanks in advance for your support! 🧁

Suzy Duxbury from Dramatis Community Drama School will be coming in to run a 12-week drama project that will culminate in a performance to parents.
The project aims to use drama to help build confidence and resilience in children.
During the drama sessions, the children will be looking at various stories from the bible, with a modern take on how these relate to our lives and problems today. While the project aims to be beneficial to wellbeing, it will be very much
fun and lighthearted.
Sessions will commence on Friday 4th March at 3.00pm to 4.00pm and will run up to Friday 17th June. (Excluding the inset day on 18th February and the Easter holidays).
Children will be required to attend a rehearsal on Thursday 23rd June from 3.00pm to 5.30pm, and then for their performance on Friday 24th June from 6.00pm which parents will be invited to watch.
The cost of this drama project will be part funded by the school, however, there is a payment of £60 per child, required to be paid by yourself via the Payment option on ParentMail by 15th February.
Should you wish your child to attend but are unable to make this payment or if your child is in receipt of Pupil Premium, please contact the school office to arrange to speak to Mr Edgington.
Please note spaces are limited to 15 only.
Should we not get enough pupils to take part in this club, it will not go ahead and a full refund will be given.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you wish to discuss further.
🎪 We are delighted to be bringing Happy’s Circus to St. Mary’s school field on Wednesday 13th July for our summer fundraising event!
• Happy’s Circus provides a professional all human (no animals) 2 hour experience presented by a 16 strong international touring team.
• 600 guests are offered spectacular live circus events in their all-weather Big Top with innovative sound and lighting technology.
• The show will start at 4.30pm and conclude at 6.30pm. They offer the sale of popcorn, candy floss and circus goodies. Doors opening at 4pm
• The show features exciting acts and is hosted by the Ringmaster and Clown introducing Acrobats, Aerialists, Speciality Acts, Magic and Audience Participation with loads of fun and much, much more!
• The FSA will be there with hot and cold drinks as well as snacks, stalls and activities for everyone before the event.
During the week of the event the children will be learning about the circus and its history and we are planning for the children at school to be able to see ‘behind the scenes’ as they set up the show.
Tickets will be on sale from today, and we are hoping as many people as possible will be able to attend this amazing event. Tickets are £9 each and will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis via Parentmail. Families can buy as many tickets as they wish and will be able to pay the total in instalments to spread the cost. Please be advised that children must be accompanied by an adult at the event.
With the funds generated from this event we hope to be able to buy trees and plants to improve the front of the school, making it a greener area for our children to enjoy and also giving them the chance to grow their own plants and vegetables at school.
We will need as many helpers as possible to make this event a success. Maybe you can spare the FSA 30 minutes from home, researching or sourcing items we will need for our stalls, maybe wrapping gifts or contacting companies for donations of raffle prizes? Or perhaps you could help on the day of the circus with setting up, managing a stall or helping with the clear-up afterwards?
Any help you can give will be very gratefully received!
💻Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people, and to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically, and creatively.
Safer Internet Day 2022 is on 8th February and will be celebrated with the theme ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online’.
Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, Safer Internet Day is celebrated in over a hundred countries coordinated by the joint Insafe/INHOPE network, with the support of the European Commission, and national Safer Internet Centres across Europe

Here at St Mary’s we try to teach them how to use digital media in a safe and constructive manner. In particular, we try to help them:
• Use the internet safely
• Recognise the dangers of giving out personal information to strangers
• Question online information and help them recognise when it may not be true
• Use the internet and social media in ways to not hurt or offend others
• Recognise inappropriate behaviour and the importance of talking to a trusted adult if they are worried or concerned
The internet can be accessed via many different platforms from PCs to gaming consoles and through many portable devices. It can be difficult to know what your child is doing online or indeed, even knowing when they are online.
Keeping your child safe in the digital world is something that needs to be tackled as a partnership between everyone involved with their growth and development and the following web links may help you in understanding their world which is very different from the one that we experienced in our childhood.
Parental Controls
The first step is often understanding Parental Controls that give you some degree of control over a child’s access to online material within your own home
• Have a look at:
https://www.internetmatters.org/parental-controls/
Or ring the free helpline run by the NSPCC on 0808 800 5002
Online Gaming
Many children use Online gaming which allows them to develop friendships with others and is known to be used as an approach method for those seeking inappropriate contact
• You can find information at

Social Media
Social media is extremely popular with children and many have accounts that their parents are unaware of and may be age inappropriate. Children as young as 7 are known to have Facebook Accounts
• There is a great checklist you can use to help you and your child have a healthy “E” relationship:
