🎉 Student Success Story – George 🧡 🙌
George is celebrating a strong set of GCSE results, achieving the grades he needed to take his next step after Bodmin College.
Among his successes were a Grade 6 in English Literature, Grade 5 in English Language, Grade 5-5 in Science, and a Grade 4 in Maths, with several results exceeding his expectations.
In September, George hopes to join Callywith College to study Law, Criminology and Psychology, opening the door to an exciting new chapter.
Reflecting on his journey, George was keen to thank Mr Price for helping him make significant progress in English:
"I feel like he's taken me from about a Grade 3 all the way to Grades 5 and 6. He's very funny and his way of teaching is very good."
Looking back on his five years at Bodmin College, George's favourite memories were the simple moments spent with friends:
"Building those friendships with my mates is what I'll always remember."
Congratulations, George. We're proud of the young man that you've become and we wish you every success for the future. 👏

I’ve been self employed tutoring now for 2 cycles of SATs tests and results. These speak for themselves.

I’ve now had two year 6 students make absolutely phenomenal improvements. In their initial assessment at the beginning of year 6, the students were in the 80’s in their standardised scores. This places them significantly below expected standard (100).

They achieved above 100 in their results.

wow… just WOW!

When I was a primary school teacher, if I saw my student had scored in the 80s it would be very unlikely that school alone could bring the student to achieve 100. Infact, I never witnessed it myself. This is why I went into private tutoring. The impact tutoring has on a young person’s attainment is well known but now I can say this has been from my own experience. I am beyond proud of these students and so grateful I can say I had an impact on their results.

These are just two students of many I have had the pleasure of working with. 🍎☺️

A little summary of my lessons in the last week 🙌🏻 I LOVE creative ways to learn or revise key concepts. It’s also a great way for me to assess any misconceptions or gaps without the dreaded formal assessments!

Today a student and I learned a new word and created a bracelet as a way to remember it for the rest of the week. Vocabulary is one of my favourite thing to teach. I absolutely admire strong comprehension and a wide range of language to use when writing and speaking.

We played pick up sticks for rearranging the subject in algebra.

I love playing language device bingo! I’m a sucker for sparkly things so any excuse to make more of these each week I’m in!

Filling in the gaps in English language terminology this evening. Students who have gaps frequently feel overwhelmed and unsure how to answer exam questions. Often, even terms like ‘nouns’ or ‘adverbs’ are misunderstood because students feel too embarrassed to ask in front of a large group of peers. How lovely it is to have the chance to ask a question without judgment, with 1:1 attention with a qualified teacher and finish the session feeling optimistic and confident.
