Contact us and discover the joy of learning for your child. Early Years stage of education - Nursery School and Toddler Group. Our toddler group, Twiglets, runs weekly on a Thursday from 1pm to 2.30pm at Blisland Village Hall by Julie Pearce who can be contacted on 07786 915 054, more details can be found on 'Twiglets page'. We welcome children from 0 to 3 years old, with parents and we run creative activities alongside free play giving parents the opportunity to socialise amongst a friendly, caring group enabling the transition to nursery run smoothly. Blisland introduces children to the important world of learning in the happy, caring and supportive environment of our Nursery department from the age of 2 1/2 years and funding from 3 years. This is situated within the school. All nursery children have constant access to the outdoor play area with a variety of learning equipment including bikes, trim trail, sand and water activities, covered learning area. We introduce children to language, number and social skills through a wide variety of play based activities, including Forest School and Bushcraft where small groups of children work in structured sessions with a qualified teacher. We offer a warm friendly welcome to all of our pupils and parents. We pride ourselves on presenting each child with opportunities to achieve their potential in all areas of the curriculum, preparing them for a happy and successful progression towards the next stage of their education. Weekly structured P.E. lessons are run with a P.E. Specialist who comes into school. Within the school year children cover swimming, gymnastics, cross country, competitive sports, team sports and yearly sports day event. Many of Blisland school children are very successful in their own sphere outside of the school, competing at swimming, triathalon, pony clubs, ballet and music. Within the school we give children the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments from the trumpet to the keyboard, some as class lessons and others as one to one through Cornwall Music Service Trust. Blisland School participate in the Children's University Passport scheme which results in a graduation ceremony. We are a food hygiene 5* canteen where fresh food is cooked daily by Sam, our cook including daily fresh bread, salad bar, jacket potatoes, vegetarian options. Packed lunches are often enjoyed in the summer in the school field. Blisland School has a group of very supportive parents who are part of the H.S.A. (Home School Association) and they hold regular meetings and hold various fundraising events throughout the year including Easter Fayre, duck race, Summer Fayre, Christmas Community Lunch followed by school play for extra curricular activities and trips to enhance your child's experience at school. Within the school year we participate in a variety of activities and school trips including residential, theatre trips, beach days and also termly activities supporting the topic for that term which may include a trip to the zoo, farms, allotments, garden centres. We also have specialist visits every term for topic related learning. We run after school clubs that are run voluntarily by parents and staff from 3.15pm to 4.15pm which include ceramics club, sports club, computer club, homework club, yoga club, coding club, gardening club most of which are free.
