St Mary’s Nursery had such a lovely day celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s birthday! The children came in dressed as all sorts of amazing animals, which made the nursery feel like a little wildlife world.

They had so much fun making birthday cards, playing lots of animal-themed games, and getting creative with animal arts and crafts. The children even became “mini Attenboroughs” and went on their own exciting animal hunt, exploring and discovering together.

To finish off their special day, everyone sat down for a lovely picnic and enjoyed spending time together. It was a fun-filled day full of smiles, learning, and a real love for animals and nature! 🐾🌿

At St Mary’s Nursery, we absolutely love learning outside and make the most of our outdoor spaces every day. We are very lucky to have a huge outdoor area, as well as a designated Forest School space, which gives our children even more opportunities to explore and learn in nature. Being outdoors allows children the freedom to be curious, active, and engaged in a fun and natural way. It supports all areas of the EYFS, helping them develop physical skills, build confidence, and grow in independence. We encourage children to take safe, managed risks, such as climbing, balancing, and trying new challenges, which helps them become more resilient and self-assured. Outdoor learning also sparks creativity and imagination, giving children the chance to learn through hands-on experiences while enjoying the fresh air and natural environment.

🌿 Don’t Forget!

This Friday, 8th May, marks the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough! 🎉

This deeply knowledgeable and passionate man has inspired generations with his wisdom, bringing the wonders of our planet to life and teaching us about the extraordinary creatures and plants we share it with. He is truly a cultural icon.

To celebrate this very special occasion, we would love all children and staff to come to school dressed as animals on Friday 8th May 🐾

And there’s more… Mr Moran, our Headteacher, will be joining in the fun by dressing up as a younger version of Sir David Attenborough himself!
