This year Bede Academy is launching a GCSE astronomy course designed to inspire students towards opportunities in space skills and technology.

These photos of the solar eclipse were taken by Mr Carruthers using the new telescopes purchased to support the delivery of this new course.

The North East is rapidly emerging as a dynamic space economy hub, anchored by a £50 million investment in the North East Space Skills and Technology Centre (NESST) at Northumbria University, major corporate commitments from Lockheed Martin, and regional goals to create 10,000 space jobs by 2030.

We are preparing students for these opportunities of the future.

We're looking forward to welcoming students and families as they collect their GCSE results and take the next step towards an exciting future.

Results Day is about more than grades – it's about recognising hard work, celebrating achievements and exploring the opportunities that lie ahead. Our teams will be on hand to offer advice, guidance and support as students prepare for sixth form, college, apprenticeships and beyond.

Congratulations to students in Key Stage 5 collecting their results today.

We are celebrating an exceptional year of post-16 examination success, with students achieving outstanding results across A levels, BTECs and T levels.

Their success is testament to their character and determination, and also to the wealth of encouragement and support from across the whole community. Massive thanks go to our students, teachers, parents, local industry partnerships, university partnerships, and community groups who collectively have created the conditions for success here in Blyth.

These achievements reinforce the academy’s commitment to curriculum, character and community: ensuring every child is able to achieve their personal best, grow in confidence and character and, with the support of their whole community, experience life in all its fullness.

Congratulations to our Head of Drama Mrs Sutton who is currently starring in the lead role of Miss Adelaide at Newcastle Theatre Royal showcasing exceptional talent, dedication and professionalism on one of the region’s biggest stages.

What an inspiring example for our students—demonstrating passion, hard work and commitment. It’s wonderful for our young performers to see their teacher quite literally practising what they teach!

It's wonderful to see Mrs Sutton has support from staff, students and parents, whose encouragement reflects the strong sense of community within the Bede family.

Congratulations Newcastle Musical Theatre Company on this fantastic production. We wish the entire cast and crew every success for the rest of the run!

Last week Bede Academy hosted our 2nd Annual Community Celebration and once again we were blown away with the level of engagement and support.

Each person representing something valuable in the life of Blyth: a group, organisation, service, church, charity, club, business or community effort that makes a difference to the lives of young people and families across Blyth.

We are grateful to Ellie Liddle of Children’s North East for taking time to research and listen to our community, and to share with us some ways we can strengthen our offer further.

We are looking forward to working together to make our collective offer more visible, to building awareness of financial support, and continuing to build the relationships that help young people take the first step.

We are working in partnership so that every young person in Blyth can experience the very best we (collectively) can offer.
