Attainment has been raised in a variety of challenging circumstances through different State-funded school models. Highly regarded by parents and significantly oversubscribed, our non-selective schools have proved to be catalysts for positive change within their local communities, setting high standards, stimulating the spread of excellence among neighbouring schools and even attracting inward investment. Our early revival of traditional features of school life, including compulsory uniforms and leadership roles for senior students, has since been emulated by many schools across the UK. Underpinning it is a non-denominational Christian ethos that informs our core values and is welcomed by families of all faiths and none; it guides our ambition to develop character in our young people. They are regularly reminded that, in an increasingly performance- and target-driven society, it is their own good character that counts and is of the highest value to them. We recognise the innate value and potential in all our young people and always encourage them to do their best, whatever their ability or circumstances. This leads to each one having the opportunity to find their niche and to succeed.

A Successful Year Together

As we bring another academic year to a close, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our staff, students, parents, carers, governors, trustees, and wider community partners for their dedication, support, and commitment throughout the year.

Together, we have celebrated achievements, overcome challenges, and continued to provide opportunities for every young person across the Emmanuel Schools Foundation to flourish academically, spiritually, and personally.

We are incredibly proud of all that has been accomplished and grateful for the collective effort that makes our schools such special places to learn and work.
As the summer break begins, we wish everyone a well-deserved period of rest, refreshment, and time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming you back for another exciting year ahead.

Reaching Cambridge...

Rebecca Stevenson, who is head of Sixth Form at Grace College in Gateshead, was a joint winner in the ‘Reaching Cambridge’ category. She was nominated by her former pupil, Logan Ripley, who’s now studying Natural Sciences at Sidney Sussex College. He said her “faith, guidance and compassionate approach to achieving the highest standards ensured that I achieved 4 A*s in my A-Levels.”

Rebecca said it was a huge honour to have been selected:

“It was a pleasure to teach Logan and to support him through his application process and I was beyond thrilled that he was accepted to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge. Now at the end of his first year, it was wonderful to hear about the experiences Logan has already enjoyed and to see him thriving in his new environment. At the awards celebration day, listening to him speak with such enthusiasm and confidence made me feel incredibly proud. Teaching is about far more than qualifications and grades; it is about getting to know students as individuals, believing in their potential and wanting the very best for them as they pursue their ambitions.”

Mrs Normanton was delighted to represent Christ's College, along with colleagues from other Pennywell Fellowship schools and community groups at the prestigious TES education awards in London on Friday evening. We were so pleased that this community partnership work has gained national recognition, despite still only being in its infancy. Can't wait to see what further opportunities this will bring for the young people of Pennywell!
