Social Value is at the forefront of our £10m project to create the new home of South Central IOT at Milton Keynes College. We are working with the students to highlight the many career opportunities that exist within the construction industry whilst keeping them involved as much as we can throughout the project.

We recently ran a hoarding design competition that was open to all students of the College with the aim of promoting important topics within the industry, such as the diversity of careers within the sector, and how the construction industry is looking to become more sustainable.

First and second place designs were chosen by the judging panel, and the winning designs were unveiled on site yesterday by the project team.

Congratulations to our winners, in first place Julia Klimaszewska, and in second place Brina Pedros. A massive thank you to everyone who entered!

Sajeeth has a wealth of experience working as a digital training manager for companies such as Dell and Deloitte that he is excited to bring to his new role at SCIoT.

His main responsibility is to facilitate training for digital apprenticeships in various areas such as software development, data analytics, ICT and HNC courses.

The brand new South Central IOT hub was officially opened on 24 November by Mark Beard, High Sheriff of Oxfordshire and Gary Headland DL, Chief Executive at Activate Learning.

The new SCIoT hub has seen a £3 million investment and will specialise in the delivery of higher level technical and digital education.

Gary Headland DL, said: “This is a brilliant new facility and a multi-million pound investment in Oxfordshire that’s creating new capability in cyber security, data analytics and digital career paths."

"Technology is for everyone, it’s in every career and every sector. This is quite niche, in the sense that we’re creating people for specific roles but it’s also going to become a centre for innovation where we look at technology in every sector."

"This is the beginning of something incredibly special and we’re really proud of this investment. We’re looking forward to seeing the impact on the local community and those travelling to Blackbird Leys to benefit from this amazing asset.”

The hub will form part of the wider SCIoT that was established following a successful bid led by Milton Keynes College. SCIoT works alongside prestigious partners including Microsoft, KPMG, McAfee, CCL Evidence Talks, and Cranfield University.

We are delighted to announce the official opening of the new South Central IOT building at our Blackbird Leys Technology Campus at City of Oxford College!

The development of the new SCIoT hub has seen a £3 million investment to create a completely unique building within the college, specialising in the delivery of technical and digital education.

Tonight, we welcomed over 100 employers who heard about our mission through Gary Headland DL (Chief Executive at Activate Learning) and Alex Warner (Principal, SCIoT).

This new institute will drive growth and widen opportunity in Oxfordshire by bridging the digital skills gap. We aim to provide employers with a technically skilled workforce and students with a clear route to technical employment.

A big thank you to everyone that came along to support the vision and see our fantastic new facilities!
