What a fantastic day the Acorns had at Upton Country Park!

Our young explorers became busy bees as they learned all about pollination and discovered just how important bees are to our environment. We tuned our ears to the sounds of nature, listening carefully for bird calls before trying our hand at bird watching.

One of the highlights of the day was pond dipping, where we were thrilled to discover a newt and even a rare river scorpion! The children were fascinated by the amazing wildlife living right beneath the water’s surface.

We also stepped back in time as we learned about the history of the park’s magnificent trees, exploring their unique markings and uncovering the stories they have to tell.

All of this was extremely fun however nothing compared to the excitement of having a packed lunch!

It was a day full of curiosity, discovery, and hands-on learning in the great outdoors. We are so proud of the enthusiasm, teamwork, and excellent behaviour shown by all of our children.

Beech class had a fantastic trip to The Sea Life Centre today. They saw seals, stingrays, turtles, otters and even watched sharks swim above their heads in the ocean tunnel! The children took part in a treasure hunt along the way, finding out interesting facts about each marine animal. During their time at the Sealife centre, year 3 also watched Humboldt penguins being fed and enjoyed the amazing adventure play area. They set a wonderful example for our school and a memorable day was had by all!

Year 6 had an unforgettable adventure at Charborough Farm on Friday! The children enjoyed an exciting trailer ride through the countryside, where they spotted several deer and were even lucky enough to see a one-day-old fawn. They discovered the fascinating world of beekeeping, learning how bees help our environment and how honey is produced. The day also included a behind-the-scenes look at the impressive machinery used on modern farms, giving pupils a real insight into life on the farm.

Year 2 had a fantastic maths lesson this morning exploring tally charts. The children began learning how to collect and record data, then created their own tally charts based on the colours of vehicles passing the school. A fun, hands-on way to bring data handling to life! 🚗📊

We loved our first walk so much, we have come out for another one after dinner...and the sun has come out!

Maple have arrived at Leeson and are off on their first 'little walk'. The rain has stopped and spirits are high. Hopefully the walk wears them out for an early night and sleep.

Yesterday evening we had the pleasure of welcoming the new Acorn families for next year. We were so pleased with how many were able to join us to find out all about our school and what the beginning of the Acorn journey looks like.

This year the children were lucky enough to take home a ‘Spetisbury starter pack’, full of information and fun things to do over the summer in preparation for September!

It was so lovely to see so many new and returning faces and we are so grateful for those that took the time to join us.

Year 1 have been exploring the exciting world of digital art! The children have worked incredibly hard learning how to use the different tools and features of the programme.
First, we painted our own pictures by hand and then used our new computing skills to recreate them digitally. The children practised using colours, brushes, shapes and drawing tools carefully to make their artwork look just like the originals.
We are so proud of the creativity, concentration and determination shown by everyone. Well done, Year 1!
