The farmyard was in our invitation station today. The babies used their imagination to play, letting the animals stomp on the cereals and pushing the tractors around. We practised our animal sounds and all could identify the correct animal when asked. πŸ„πŸ‘πŸ“
Outside we fixed the fence, rolled and kicked the small tyres around and raced over the little bridge.
Such a busy morning, we were all ready for our afternoon nap! πŸ˜€

🎢 "5 little coloured frogs, sat on a speckled log, eating the most delicious grub. Yum yum!
One jumped into the pool, where it was nice and cool.
Now there are 4 little coloured frogs, glub glub!" 🐸

We've kept cool today by counting frogs that have been jumping in the water and singing 5 little speckled frogs. The children practised their number sequencing and colour recognition through their play.

Friday fun times with our friends from Shillingstone in the garden.
The children really enjoyed using paint to make marks on the cling film. Providing new variations and opportunities of activities help engage children and spark interest. We found that the children kept coming back to this activity with new ideas and imagination of what they would like their marks to represent. We had rainbows, cars, the beach and lots of flowers.

We hope you have a lovely weekend and stay safe in the sunshine! 🌞

Today we have been busy using maths in our water play. We practised our pouring skills and number recognition along with discussing different sizes.
R used natural materials he found in the garden to investigate floating and sinking. "Leaf at top, stone sink bottom" he observed.
The babies took turns to roll the balls through the cascades and into a bucket at the bottom.
Whilst the babies had their afternoon snooze, the older children enjoyed z game of sleeping Bunnies. We had lots of different animals used and some fab listening and attention skills displayed. πŸ‡πŸ’πŸ¦πŸπŸŠ

This morning we created a display using shaving foam, petals and leaves.
At the invitation station we added cornflour to the ice cubes for the children to explore. It made the ice cubes have a fluffy effect.
E observed that the ice cubes were melting and it was becoming very "gloopy" and "sticky".
We have also used baskets as hats and used wood slices as drums! πŸ₯

Today the children have explored a variety of sensory activities. From smelling lemons and limes, splashing and pouring the water and mixing the paint.
We observed the colour changes with the paint and offered suggestions. S observed " look I've made orange, I've mixed yellow and red together!"

Today we have dug in the sand with the vehicles looking for treasure.
We spoke about shadows and how they are caused by the sun shining down and how it follows us as we run around outside. The children had a go at making shadows with the animals on paper and drawing around them. "It big, now it small"observes C as she moves her animal around, watching the shadow change size.
We cooled off with the water play and extended their learning by adding measuring cylinders. This helped encourage Maths language. "It's nearly at the top" Says F. "Got lots of water in mine" Says E. "Need some more water" Says M, as well as the children demonstrating their excellent pouring skills.

Enjoy your sunny weekend 🌞

The babies went for a lovely walk around the village before it got hot this morning before returning to nursery to explore their senses through playing with the sand, shaving foam, crayoning, reading books, singing songs and then enjoying their lunches before a well deserved nap. In the afternoon they all tried to cool off by putting their ball pool balls into a tray of water and playing with the frozen sweetcorn and ice cubes.

Today we have been busy outside with the diggers and sand. The children were fascinated watching a helicopter land in a field close by. It was very noisy! 🚁
This afternoon the children had lots of fun with the soft play. M built structures to sit in. A and W enjoyed knocking down towers and kicking the blocks around.
