Today marked the start of our DofE expedition. It is fantastic to see so many students taking part and making the most of this excellent opportunity to challenge themselves and build confidence 🥾

Our Year 🔟 students have been taking part in their Duke of Edinburgh practice expeditions in preparation for their assessed expedition this weekend.

Throughout the expedition, students have been working towards their aim of improving resilience and teamwork while exploring and learning about the countryside environment. They have been following the Countryside Code, showing respect for the natural world and identifying a variety of local flora and fauna along their route.

It has been fantastic to see students supporting one another, developing new skills and embracing the challenges of expedition life. We wish them the very best of luck for their expedition assessment this weekend – keep up the great work! 🌿🥾🧭

🌍👏 Congratulations to our Year 🔟 Geographers on successfully completing their compulsory GCSE Geography Paper 3️⃣ fieldwork! 👏🌍

It was a busy and exciting day as students carried out two investigations: exploring coastal processes and sand dune systems, alongside examining the impact of tourism in Blackpool.

Throughout the day, our students showed outstanding commitment, enthusiasm and resilience. Their conduct was a real credit to the school, demonstrating excellent manners, politeness and maturity—particularly when engaging with and interviewing members of the public.

We are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school and wish them every success as they continue their GCSE Geography journey! 🌊📚⭐

Did you know? 🇭🇷 Zagreb is the capital city of Croatia and serves as the country’s cultural, political, and economic centre.

By connecting World Cup fixtures to geography lessons, students are expanding their knowledge of the world while enjoying the excitement of international football.

📚 Year 7 End of Year Assessments Begin Next Week 📚

On Monday 22nd June, our Year 7 pupils will begin their End of Year Assessments.

These assessments are an opportunity for pupils to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and understanding they have developed during their first year at South Shore Academy. They are a chance to show teachers just how much progress has been made since September.

Over the next week, we encourage pupils to prepare by:

📚 Revising key knowledge and completing any preparation set by teachers
📱 Limiting distractions and putting phones away before bedtime
😴 Getting a good night's sleep each night
🥗 Eating a healthy breakfast and maintaining good nutrition
💧 Staying hydrated throughout the day
🎒 Checking equipment is ready for school
⏰ Arriving on time and ready to learn

The most important thing is that pupils try their very best. Assessments are not about being perfect - they are about showing what you know and celebrating the progress you have made.

We are incredibly proud of how our Year 7 pupils have settled into secondary school this year. Their first year at South Shore Academy has been filled with new experiences, new challenges and lots of success. We look forward to seeing them approach their assessments with focus, maturity and determination.

Today we officially said goodbye to our current Year 1️⃣1️⃣ students, who sat their final exam, Physics, this morning.

We want to thank you all for your brilliant hard work throughout the exam season and celebrate how much you have grown as a year group over the past five years.

We look forward to seeing you all again on Results Day on Thursday 20th August, but for now, take the opportunity to relax and reflect on what has been a wonderful journey.

We would also like to thank all the staff, past and present, who have supported and guided this year group along the way.

Our final thank you goes to all the families. Thank you for your unwavering support over the last five years. Without your encouragement, patience and partnership, our students would not have achieved all that they have. Your support has played a vital role in helping them reach this important milestone.

Next week, our Year 8 pupils will begin their End of Year Assessments.

These assessments are an opportunity for pupils to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and understanding they have developed throughout the year and to show their teachers the progress they have made.

There is no need to feel anxious. The best preparation comes from consistent effort, positive routines and arriving each day ready to do your best.

Over the coming days, we encourage pupils to:

📚 Spend some time revising key knowledge and completing any preparation set by teachers
📱 Put phones and devices away before bedtime
😴 Get a good night's sleep each night
🥗 Eat a healthy breakfast and maintain good nutrition
💧 Stay hydrated throughout the day
🎒 Check that equipment is ready for school
