🍎🍴 Developing Mealtime Skills Through Play!

We’ve been working on developing the children’s mealtime skills and confidence with cutlery, helping them build the coordination and control needed to use a knife and fork independently at mealtimes. 🍴✨

Through fun, hands-on activities, the children have been cutting fruit and using knives to explore and create with paint, giving them opportunities to practise controlled movements, hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. 🍓🎨

These activities are helping to build independence, confidence and fine motor control, whilst encouraging the children to become Motivated Movers and Confident Communicators as they explore, talk about what they are doing and share their experiences with their friends. 💛

Learning through play today, building independence for mealtimes tomorrow! 🌟

🍴 Developing Knife & Fork Skills Through Play! 🎂🌭

We’ve been working on developing our knife and fork control to support the children’s independence during dinner and mealtimes. Through fun and engaging play, the children have been cutting up play dough and creating their own pretend foods. 🍴✨

We’ve also been bringing music and songs into our learning, choosing songs that match the foods we are making — singing “Happy Birthday” while making our play dough cakes 🎂 and “Ten Fat Sausages” while creating our sausages! 🌭🎶

These activities are helping the children to develop their fine motor control, coordination and independence, whilst also encouraging them to become Independent Individuals, Motivated Movers and Confident Communicators as they talk about their creations, sing songs and join in with their friends. 💛

⛵🚢 Boat Building in Preschool! 🚢⛵

Our Preschool children have had a fantastic morning enjoying the sunshine while independently making their own boats by following simple step-by-step instructions. It was wonderful to see their confidence, perseverance and problem-solving skills as they carefully constructed their creations.

Once our boats were complete, we used spray bottles to create waves and wind, watching them sail across the water. This sparked lots of curiosity and led to a brilliant discussion about how boats can float, even though they are so big and heavy!

Through this hands-on activity, we developed our fine motor skills, followed instructions, explored early scientific concepts and became curious explorers as we investigated floating and sinking through play.

What a wonderful morning of creativity, discovery and outdoor learning! ☀️🌊

🐅🐒 Rising Safari! 🐍🐊

Following the children's growing interest in animals, we've transformed our outdoor garden into an exciting Rising Safari! 🌿🦁

We've enhanced the space with a variety of animal prints, pictures, binoculars and compasses, encouraging the children to become logical learners as they explore, investigate and embark on their very own safari adventures around the garden.

The children have also enjoyed creating large-scale animal mark making using our mud kitchen and outdoor creative area. They got wonderfully stuck in, developing their physical skills as motivated movers, while becoming confident communicators by sharing stories about their trips to the zoo, talking about their own pets, and proudly discussing their fantastic animal creations.

What an amazing way to combine imaginative play, communication, creativity and outdoor learning! 🌿🦒🦓

🦖🪥 Dinosaur Teeth Brushing! 🪥🦖

Our Toddlers had a roaring good time exploring the importance of keeping our teeth clean with a fun dinosaur-themed activity!

Using toothbrushes, we carefully brushed our dinosaurs' teeth, helping to remove all the "food" left behind while talking about why it's important to brush our own teeth twice a day. 🦷✨

As we brushed, we developed our fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and independence, while building our understanding of healthy habits through imaginative play. We also practised our communication skills by talking about our daily routines and sharing what we do at home to look after our teeth.

What a fantastic way to learn about oral health while having lots of prehistoric fun! 🦕💚
