Traditional parenting advice rarely accounts for trauma. A child who has experienced early trauma will have a brain shaped by their experiences. This can manifest in ways that need a little extra support to deal with. π§
Here at Capstone Excel, we offer a specialist MATTs (Multi-disciplinary Assessment, Treatment and Therapy service). It provides foster families with the tools they need to support children who have experienced trauma. π

Good luck to all the young people collecting their A-level results today. π
We hope your results are everything you hoped for. And if they're not quite what you expected, remember: there are always other options, whether that's Clearing, a resit, an apprenticeship or a completely different path. You don't have to have all the answers now. None of it defines you.
We're all in your corner, and we're all rooting for you. π

This International Youth Day, we want to celebrate the achievements and resilience of care-experienced young people. π
Wherever you are in your care journey, every day you make:
Small steps in building trusting relationships
Small steps in finding your own voice and speaking up for your needs
Small steps in building your future
Small steps in believing in yourself, especially on days that feel harder than others
Every day is a step forward that deserves to be celebrated. This Youth Day, we celebrate our young people. π

Can you foster if you rent your home? Are single people allowed to foster? Can you foster if you work full time? Is there an upper age limit for fostering? π‘
There are a lot of myths out there about who can foster (and who can't). And sometimes these common misconceptions can stop brilliant people from taking the first step to even enquire about fostering.
You don't need your own home, you don't need to be married, and while fostering takes time and dedication, it can be managed alongside a full-time job depending on your situation. As long as you're fit and well enough to care for a child, there's no upper age limit. In fact, some of our foster carers are in their 70s.
Fostering requires passion, patience and the drive to make a difference. Get in touch if this could be you. π

Could you be a foster care superhero? π¦Έ
Every foster carer we work with brings something special to the role. Patience, kindness and resilience, even when things get tough.
If that sounds like you, and you've also got a spare room, we'd love to hear from you.

This International Day of Friendship, we're thinking about how special the friends we make on our fostering journey are. π
When you foster, you'll never feel alone. Ask any carer and they'll tell you about the friends they've made along the way. The WhatsApp group that replies at 11pm. The ones you met through training when it just clicked.
Here at Capstone, when you foster, you join our community. π€

Foster carers, we want your wisdom! π
What's your best strategy for entertaining different age groups during the summer holidays? What's the hack that keeps both an 8 year old and a 14 year old happy?
Let us know in the comments. π

This International Self-Care Day, a gentle reminder that needing a break doesn't make you any less committed as a foster carer. It simply makes you human. π
So drink your cup of tea while it's still hot. β Spend fifteen minutes in the garden recharging. Watch your favourite show or get lost in a good book. You can't pour from an empty cup.
And remember, if you need support, there's a whole network of foster carers here who've been through it all before. We're here for you. π€
