Over the last week and the next few weeks, pupils will be completing their Speaking and Listening assessments as part of their Functional Skills exams.

It would be great if they could have a little extra support from home by:

- Talking about their hobbies and interests
- Being asked interesting “why” questions (why they enjoy them, how they started, what they gain from them)
- Sharing what your hobbies and interests are too

These conversations really help build confidence, communication skills, and exam readiness.

Excited for the week ahead at Abingdon!

Mock GCSE English Paper 1 ✅
Mock Functional Skills Maths ✅
More Speaking & Listening practice 🎤

We are also welcoming a guest speaker from ADASH, focusing on healthy relationships, alongside walk and talk sessions, forest school, and plenty of hands-on learning.

Pupils will be getting creative making bath bombs, linking practical experiences directly to BTEC Science and this term’s qualifications.

All of this wrapped up with lots of fun, real-world learning and a bit of sneaky teaching along the way.

Welcome back to school for 2026! 🎉

We have an exciting half term ahead with lots of activities planned, including mock GCSE exams, Functional Skills Maths, and speaking and listening sessions.

We are also delighted to offer 7 pupils the opportunity to take part in an enrichment activity at the Anderton Centre, recognising attendance, work ethic, and progress. 🌟

🎳 Panathlon Ten Pin Bowling Event 🎳

Six of our pupils proudly represented Abington’s Sports College at the Secondary Panathlon Ten Pin Bowling event, celebrating inclusive sport and physical activity.

The winning team will go on to represent Blackpool in the Lancashire County Finals. Although we didn’t secure the win this time, our pupils showed fantastic teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout.

Well done to everyone involved – taking part and enjoying the experience is what truly matters! 👏
