Welcome to Blossom and Bee lemonade stand!😍

Soooo much exploration with our lemons today. These tiny hands got SUPER busy!

We crushed up yellow chalk with our pestle and mortar, mixed with water to watch the colour change.
Then we used lemon squeezers to squeeze the juices from the lemons into bowls and transferred them over to whisk it all up.
Some children then developed the play with their imagination by selling the lemonade🙌🏻.

What we achieved developmentally:
Physical development - Hand muscles were challenged. They squeezed, crushed, poured, and transferred throughout this activity.
Personal, social and emotional - Children bounced back after difficulties and were able to take on the challenge of squeezing the lemon juice out and crushing up the chalks.
Communication and language - Children learned new vocabulary such as “pestle and mortar”, “citrus squeezer”, and “whisk”.
Maths - Children developed a concept of shape and size as they tried to fit different sized lemons into the squeezer. They also had the opportunity to chop the lemons, introducing them to the concept of halves and quarters.
In addition to this they experimented with “filling and emptying” the jugs and bottles.
Expressive development - Children had the opportunity to be imaginative and creative with their play and developed each-others ideas with an open-mind and willingness.

Play isn’t INSTEAD of learning… it IS learning!🙏

The regular updates, messages and photos mean I always know what Caleb has been up to and give me complete confidence that he is happy and thriving. I also love the mixed age environment. Caleb gets the opportunity to play with children his own age whilst also learning from older children around him. Even at 18 months old, he is constantly picking up new skills and surprising us with the things he can do.”❤️

I’m not sure I have just one favourite thing about Blossom and Bee but a few are the nurturing atmosphere, the way my children are genuinely excited to attend and how much I know my babies are loved there! Also, the lovely drop off and pick up chats make me feel like I’m speaking to a friend!

Bee and Claudia truly care about the children and build such strong relationships with both the children and their families. Blossom and Bee feels like an extension of our family, and we couldn’t be happier with the care and support our children receive.

My boy is going to miss Bee, Claudia and all of his little friends when he starts big school, but it definitely won’t be the last they see of us 🥰

“When I first met the Bee she was warm and welcoming, my little one felt right at home in the setting doing his own thing enjoying his time there as we got to know Bee’s values.

The first few weeks were the hardest, having to adjust to not having my baby attached to my hip, and trust a stranger with your child but my mummy instincts knew my baby would be loved and cherished like one of her own.

My boy has flourished so much in this setting- he’s been giving opportunities to grow and become more independent - ready to take on the world with the guidance of Bee and her team.

Bee doesn’t just teach the babies things from a curriculum, she takes them out into the world for real life, hands on experiences such as fire safety and stranger danger, household responsibilities such as cleaning up after themselves and respecting other peoples homes. These kinds of things are usually taught later on in a child’s education but she has been teaching my boy things like this since a very early age and he puts it into practise most days.

I say this all the time to bee herself, I wouldn’t have gone with anyone else. She has had plenty of experience with babies and children in nursery settings and as a mother herself, she is THE BEST IN BLACKPOOL!

Her attention to detail, knowing anything and everything from their favourite food to their favourite toy, how to help them to sleep at nap time is greatly valued and not everyone has the ability to know the children they look after like Bee does.

The Blossom and Bee team know these children inside out and that’s one of my favourite things about my boys childminder.

They treat them the way they treat their own children and pour their hearts into making these children be the best little role models they can be and I will forever be grateful to them for shaping my boy into who he is today.

He would not be who he is without them. They are a massive part of our lives and we will be lost without them when my boy starts big school. “

Rolling, squeezing, and molding playdough builds hand strength and helps their muscles grow in preparation of pre-writing skills.
