There's a new soft play in town!
So naturally we had to be the first to test it out when it opened today. Tenpin

We had a very exciting morning!
We visited our lovely friends at Sandy Toes - childminding service and got to play with all their toys!
Thank you so much, we had a brilliant time ☺️❤️❤️
Then we found a snail on the path! 🐌
Of course that has made today THE BEST DAY EVER! 🐌❤️

Exactly! Slow pedagogy gives children the room to explore, discover and create. Hygge is the way forward.
instead of rushing children onto the next thing?
What if… before the phonics or pulling children to the next adult-led task…
…we simply paused long enough to truly see the child in front of us?
To notice:
* the child proudly carrying water backwards and forwards for 20 minutes
* the child making a birthday party for their favourite cuddly
* the child carefully lining up sticks, stones or animals
* the child who needs connection before participation
* the child telling you something important through their play
Because children are not data points to move through provision.
They are little people with feelings, fascinations, stories, worries, humour, wonder and deep emotional needs.
And so much of what matters most in childhood cannot be measured on a tracking sheet.
This is the heart of slow pedagogy.
Not doing less for children…
…but creating enough calm, space and presence for meaningful learning to actually unfold.
In my Hygge in the Early Years™ training, I help educators move away from overstimulation, overwhelm and constant rushing… and towards calm, connected, meaningful practice rooted in play, presence and wellbeing.
✨ Because childhood was never meant to feel like a race.
