Rare Otter Sightings Caught on Camera 🦦

This footage of a female otter with her two pups was just a snippet of the flourishing UK wildlife identified by zoo cameras at Marton Mere Local Nature Reserve recently.

As part of ongoing small mammal surveys led by Blackpool Zoo, Wyre Rivers Trust and Friends of Marton Mere, we are using observational data to help make key decisions relating to the long-term management of Marton Mere SSSI, ensuring the local wildlife populations remain stable for years to come.

It's official... Blackpool Zoo is good for you!

New research carried out right here at the zoo has found that just one visit to Blackpool Zoo improves your mood, reduces stress and leaves you feeling calmer and happier. Whether you're watching the orangutans, walking through the park, or taking part in one of our animal interactions, the science shows that time at Blackpool Zoo is genuinely good for you! We are proud to be taking another step forward in accessibility.

From next week, we will be introducing discreet incontinence bins in male toilets across the zoo. This small but meaningful change helps create a more inclusive and supportive environment for those who need it.

Our first Wellbeing Walk, held exclusively for Blackpool Zoo members, took place on Sunday afternoon around the calm natural setting of Marton Mere Nature Reserve.

Alongside an abundance of native species spotted throughout the walk, including a buzzard that came fairly close, the sun was shining and our guests were thrilled to be out enjoying our local green spaces.

We were also delighted to be joined by Andy’s Man Club, a mental health charity encouraging men to know that

Being outdoors and surrounded by nature can have a hugely positive impact on our wellbeing, which is why we have a number of exciting Wellbeing Walks planned for the whole family to enjoy. All Wellbeing Walks are completely free to attend.

Keep an eye on our socials for more updates about future native species events.
